I wish I understood why some people think that a person referring to themselves as a single person is a character flaw.

Oh no! He's talking about himself in the first person! He's a witch!

Doug Gilmour never said I. Sure, it made his wedding vows super confusing BUT HE WAS ABOUT THE TEAM!

I'd rather have Kadri saying "I" when he speaks about himself, not the Jim Kelly mould where he used to speak about himself in the 3rd person.  Imagine Kadri saying:

"Nazem Kadri knows Kadri is being pretty reasonable, taking all that cap into consideration when really, that's not Nazem Kadri's job," told reporters. "Kadri did his work over these past three years. Kadri did exactly what they told Kadri to do, trying to be the player they want Kadri to be. Kadri thinks he's well on his way."

Think Naz can finish off Nonis with the people's elbow and get his new deal?

I'm not going to lie... I read the TSN article this morning and I was disappointed. I like Kadri, but I don't like that he is talking to media about the negotiations. I would prefer he didn't make any comments. He's got talent, and he's is one of my fav players.

Please Kadri... don't make this about you and your ego. At least not in the public eye. Look how easy it is to have people turn on you. Don't they teach these kids stuff like this when they sign on with the big clubs??

I thought RC was either easing a rookie into the NHL, or they realized Kadri was never going to be in their long-term plans.  Is he a guy who wins games, or a guy who wins championships?  My thinking was, could they just be pampering him, giving him all the best opportunities to succeed, just to increase his stock.  Maybe this non-negotiation was the goal all along so it could be the excuse to trade him.

Does not seem to be Carlyle style. He would not play a player he is not comfortable with just to raise his value.

He really does compliment himself more than any other NHLer that I can think of off the top of my head.  Whether that is a good, bad, or meaningless thing I'm not sure.

When it comes to talking about himself or his abilities Kadri is a straight shooter. The contract situation is obviously the elephant in the room for him and it's definitely a distraction. As long as he's tactful about it there I don't think there's any problem.

There's absolutely nothing to take issue with in anything he said.  "I've played to expectations and I want to have a contract in place before training camp."  He was asked a question and provided an honest, truthful answer.

Trade him!

Never mind Carlyle. That's just not something that teams that are in a playoff race or that simply intend to make the playoffs do. Teams only really "showcase" guys when they're already on their way to being eliminated.

Not sure what the fuss is about.  He wants a pay raise and is speaking in first person, not sure how else he can word it, but maybe he shouldn't be taking this to the media as his words may be twisted against him.

Just wait 2 more weeks, if Kadri and Franson are still unsigned - which is quite likely - the media will go crazy, irresponsible comments will multiply, nervousness will rise... then we will talk about distraction.

I'd rather they trade that bum, Clarkson.
