Leafs @ Avalanche - Nov. 6th, 9:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

Bernier's just not good at shootouts. 20 goals allowed in 44 shootout attempts against in his career. 12 in 28 as a Leaf.

Missed this one again ... but seeing the highlights, I'll just say that Bernier's performance left a helluva lot to be desired.  The SO winner on him was an embarrassment.

If it wasn't for him in the first, there would be no potential for embarrassment.

Exactly what I thought, too.  While Bernier did make some one-time saves, there were times when he looked 'out of sync' on some of the Colorado goals, and including in the shootout.

Maybe it's just this game, or maybe it's our high expectations of Bernier to be super-sharp for each game, don't know, but somehow this year's Bernier comes across as somewhat different.

He's still a dependable, capable, and astute netminder, it's just that when he has a "bad" game, it showcases itself more.

Gotta love Bozak in breakaway attempts though.

Well, interesting game. first 30 seconds sucked.
I didn't like the hit on Winnik. At no time should kick the guys legs out during a hit.
I dont understand why Reilly was scratched over Gardiner, but I guess it doesn't matter now.
I also don't understand why everyone says that Reimer swims in the crease. I thought Bernier was swimming everywhere this evening. And man oh man does he suck on breakaways and shoot out. I would place Reimer in net for the next shoot out.
Good game over all. very chippy near the end.

But is he still reliable, competent, and adroit?  ;)

Seeing the 3-on-3 in overtime, I really hope the NHL adopts it.  Fun and exciting hockey.  Would much rather see the majority of games end that way before going to a shootout.

Carlyle mentioned that a lot of the young guys will sit while they rotate capable dmen, it's apparently not a punishment.

I know this has already been covered, but god that's stupid. Why sit a clearly superior defenceman just for the sake of wanting to play your number 7 guy? If you want Percy playing then keep him in the minors and have Holzer sit in the pressbox all season long.

Sounds like both Winnik and Gardiner are ok (or at least their injuries aren't too serious):

Jonas Siegel @jonasTSN1050  ? 8 hours ago
Daniel Winnik was up and walking around after coming off the ice. Talked to team after the first.

Carlyle says Winnik is 100% fine.

Gardiner suffers bone bruise but no break. Limping afterward.

Seemingly in good spirits, Winnik is chatting with a couple of Denver Broncos outside the Leafs dressing room after game tonight.

A bone bruise will keep him out a week or so.

I don't know - I only watched the first period, and honestly, if it wasn't for alot of luck, it would have been 5-1 avs. They missed at least 4 wide open nets where they fanned on the shot or missed the net, a couple of crossbars and posts and then there was the one that beat Bernier and Franson saved it.

I was not impressed with Bernier, or the team as a whole in the first.

lets pass around the Valium and wait for next year, when the one whom shall not be named arrives B______k?  Nothing much is going to change until then.

Just entertainment, a few games excellent, more games good, even more games?well you know.
