Another funny thing is how we made fun of the habs for a stupid challenge, we make one that ends up actually costing us.

Keefe didn't even think it would successful.
That didn't cost us as much as the Marner over glass to go down 2..

He didn't think it was going to work and did it anyways, that's a different kind of stupid than Marner's play.

Both were stupid.. Doesn't matter though because they tried it up, dominated OT and lost on the 2nd shot against... The Leafs love giving the habs goals

Why be a fan?
Exactly. These now expected collapses makes it harder to answer this question. We truly are a team of chokers
No I'm saying why be a fan if you give up on game 7? It makes no sense. Either you're a Fairweather fan or you're not. If you're Fairweather why the hell are you on a die hard Leafs message board?

I've been a die hard Leaf fan for over 40 years and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to bring myself to watch game 7. I'm not sure if I can handle another first round game 7 loss. If that makes me a fair weather fan, so be it.
What makes this year so special out of 40?

The over glass doesn't happen if Keefe doesn't challenge.

I didn't say Marner's wasn't stupid.

And I think it does matter, it changed the game. They could have still scored 2 in regulation if they only went down 1.

For me, this year is special because it is the first one where they would have blown a 3-1 series lead to inferior team.

It's would be a new low for a team that keeps finding new lows.

I was on the phone with my pops saying the same thing. The chance of that being turned over was almost the same as the Bergevin challenge. If that's the case then why do it? It's too high risk when you're just down 1. Marner over glass doesn't happen if there's no challenge. He does need to clean that up though.

But would that stop you from actually watching Game 7? I guess what I'm saying is sure, it will be a new low. But if they win I really don't want to see these "I'm not watching game 7" people back for Round 2.

I may not watch, it's not because I don't care or I've given up. I know it will sound stupid or that I take it too seriously or whatever, but I don't respond well physically to watching games like this. Heart rate, stress level.. I just don't like how it feels.

I don't know. Maybe I've just had enough disappointments? Maybe I am now seeing this team for what it is, a team that will probably lose to Winnipeg if they somehow pull game 7 out of their ass. If they play like this against Montreal what will happen if they ever come up against Tampa...it will be a massacre.

Maybe I'm just frustration posting tonight and will wind up watching game 7. We'll find out Monday.

Yes! Bail now and be banished from the playoffs when The Leafs move on.

I think that Deebo gave a very reasoned explanation as to why they may not watch.  I could see others feeling the same way.  Some people don't like the tension that a game 7 creates, especially when it could create a series of ups and downs that would be hard to regulate your emotions on.

All I can say is wow just unbelievable the circumstances that caused the 2 Hab goals in reg. I stopped watching when it was still 0-0. The challenge what a joke. The coverage on the first goal what a joke.

Marner's penalty my god he had time to just ice it what are you thinking? For a kid with incredible talent that has won us a lot of games this year all in the regular season he has also cost us a handful with brainfart plays. Sh*t you see in Peewee hockey not from somebody that makes just under 11 million dollars.

I just don't get how a team with the talent they have and no question a much better team can't come out and play a solid 60 minutes under the circumstances.

All I'm starting to see is how weak of a division we played in all season because regardless of the outcome on Monday the semifinals is as far as a Canadian team will go.

Coaching staff I think needs to shoulder the blame. We always bit**ed about Babcock not having this team ready. Same with Keefe and his reluctance to try and mix things up and Maholtra doing jack sh8t to fix the PP which has been brutal for 2 months is unacceptable.

When I was younger, I loved it.

Things have changed for me over the last few years and I hate getting worked up over something so trivial as sports, so sometimes I avoid it.

I get wound up to and a lot I post reflects that and why I get criticized. Even moreso when we lose to these d88kwads.

I feel you, and I think I am in the same spot.  I get torn because I want to watch, but I really don't like how the games make me feel or act as they play out.  The whole situation makes me feel worse because it's not a problem if they are winning, or even playing well in most cases, but when things go off the rails for the team, then I start looking for answers, and I have a hard time finding them.  That makes me feel like a sore loser.

Being a sports fan is really such a weird thing. We look for explanations for subpar performance, try to come up with answers or things to do (trade Marner for example) but in fact we have absolutely no control over any aspect of it. That must be messing with our brains in some way!

I don't care if the team loses if they appear to be playing up to their abilities, giving full effort, playing smart. I haven't seen that for large stretches of the last 2 games. If they're not putting in the effort, why should I spend my time and aggravate myself watching another game 7 loss. I don't know. I've invested so much time and energy this season I'll probably wind up putting the game on and if they win I'll be happy, at least for a while. I can't fault anyone for skipping it though.

The Leafs frustrate me but I am at a time in my life where it doesn't eat away at me like it did in the Sundin years.  That was unhealthy and while I wouldn't say sports are trivial ? they are a prime outlet for working out our innate human tribalism ? I have it perspective now.

What nearly, almost literally, drove me crazy was Trump's attempts to destroy our country, especially after the election.  I actually lost a fair amount of weight worrying and did way too much doomscrolling.  Like I said, the Leafs occupy a different space for me now.
