Leafs @ Capitals - Mar. 16th, 3:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

I generally accept it as it usually goes both ways, but when a weak hook is called with 3 minutes left in a one goal game yet the Caps are getting away with 6 or 7 slashes at a time it's a bit eye opening.

I mean, it doesn't change the outcome of the game. The Leafs started a 3pm game at 3:45pm.

So, I'm guessing Ashton wasn't freed?

2:29, I don't even understand the point of that. The coaching staff can't be evaluating him based on four shifts, so why? I can't imagine having anyone on the roster that the coach doesn't trust to play more minutes. It just doesn't make sense.

It's pretty odd especially since we had 11 forwards. We've joked about this before, but we pretty much literally only played 3 forward lines. McClement got most of his ice-time on the PK and subbing in at centre for faceoffs.

It really is bizarre. He's a 22 yr old scoring at nearly a goal per game pace on the Marlies. Either you give him a good amount of minutes on the Leafs or you let him continue his pace with the Marlies.

I wonder if it's a power struggle between Nonis and Carlyle? Otherwise it makes absolutely no sense.

Maybe it was the same officiating crew from the Habs-Sens game on Saturday.  ;D

I hate Sunday afternoon games. At least make it a Sunday night game. Bad enough they are experimenting with no Leafs on some Saturday nights.

What is going on with the first line. No points in 4 games.

Teams with good and fast shutdown lines are able to cancel out our first line. That's when guys like Lupul and Kadri have to pick up the slack.

Now if the Leafs would of played in the first 15 mins of the first, they would of won this one. Reimer made some good saves, but I blame him on one. What is going on with the first line. No points in 4 games.

Regression.  They weren't going to continue the pace they were on, so it's good to always ready yourself for that.

The Idiot RC had them broke up the majority of the game anyways. Lupul and Kadri both looked tired from what I saw. I wish I had a multi milion dollar job that I did not have to showup for.

Yeah that idiot that has the leafs in a playoff position 2 years in a row.

If it wasn't for elite goaltending, that same idiot would have the team fighting for a top 5 pick for two years in a row. Carlyle hasn't put the Leafs in a playoff position in either season. Reimer/Scrivens and Bernier/Reimer did.

Yeah - what has Carlyle done compared to Wilson's last season here?

The only significant improvement in any area is goaltending and shootouts.  Their possession is down to 42%, other areas have pretty insignificant differences - only real differences are SV% and, consequently, GA/game.

Can't really see how the coach has any impact on SV% or shootouts.  Seems one is dependent on having a good goalie or not, and the other is luck/talent on the roster.
