I don't think he can be much worse than Frattin has been since the start of camp, also seems to have more upside, good move.

Agreed, I barely noticed Frattin out there.  No idea what happened to this guy.

I don't think he was really ever much to begin with, maybe a segment of Leafs fans are remembering a player he never was.

Playing with Kadri while he was in God-mode sure helped Frattin the first time around.

Yeah he had a good 25 games in the shortened season and hasn't done anything close to the .50 PPG before or since.  Probably more likely that the 102 other NHL games where he's put up 22 points are more indicative of his potential than the 25 games he put up 13 in the short season.

Before Matty is gone boy, I would like to see him with Kadri for 2 games, just to see if any of the old magic is still there.  I have followed Matt since before we drafted for him and my gut was one day he would be a good Leaf?I still have hopes but dey is fadin fast.

It's too bad because he showed jump and drive to the net in that shortened season, never to be seen again.

just watched a video of Panik and realized he wears the same number as a current great Leaf?the one and only cage fighter?.David???.Clarkson  #71? may have to have a cage fight to decide who retains the blessed 71
Man if this guy stick we may have to legally change his name

Maybe he can get some of it back, but I think maybe it was just right place, right time for him.  He came in that lockout season having already been playing with the Marlies, so maybe he had a leg up on some guys in the league who hadn't been playing, and maybe he just had a hot streak like lots of players get from time to time but are unable to sustain long-term.

Yeah not that he looked as if he'd be a solid 2nd liner but I thought a 3rd liner was in the making.

I remember the missed breakaway in the BOS series and a last minute goal in regulation or OT that put away the Sabres. Those plays were indicative of his speed and net drive. There were a few games where I thought he was one of the best players on the ice.

Now, not so much.

That's a very good point.

I think the hype of his college story and then a gold stretch post lockout confused a lot of people on Frattin, I hope he can find the next gear, but as some have said he might not have another.

He lost his top six job to Kozun and has probably lost his top 12 job to Panik.  Unless there's an injury I'd say he has run out of time.  He will be a 13th forward for the time being.

edit: and if Booth ever returns healthy, Frattin could be next on waivers.

Here's a tribute video to him:

I'm not sure what has happened with him. He had a great final year in college. Did very well in both AHL years 2011-12 and 2012-13 and had a great AHL playoff in 2011-12. He did pretty well with 13 mins of mostly even strength ice time in 2011-12. And then did very well with similar ice time in 2012-13 with 52.ppg, 16.6% shooting.

He gets trade to LA and the wheels fall off. 3.3% shooting with double the PP ice time he'd been getting in Toronto (a little over a minute per game).

He's a decent skater with respectable speed. He back-checks. He hits some.

All I can figure so far is maybe he needs to play with top six skill in order to put up his numbers ... (though I'm not sure of that).

Based on the talent that came into camp, I thought right wing on Kadri's line was his job to lose ... and that's what he did.

It strange because clearly he demonstrated more potential than he's showing right now

Maybe an indicator that he had a fortuitous 25 games that season.

An outlier potentially. Maybe he was fortuitous getting the puck but a bunch of his NHL goals were pretty good shots and plays as I recall. And he did it in college and the AHL as well.

Maybe it's another Jeremy Williams (I loved his shot)/Lonny Bohonos moment in Leafs history.

he also went out of that one marlie's playoff run with a pretty bad leg injury didn't he?  maybe he's never really recovered?
