Nice thought but there's this thing called a salary cap.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:Yeah, it's not good, but I'm glad it happened. If the refs aren't calling it, you cannot be a punching bag.
The Sandin hit especially was predatory, that cannot go without pushback if the refs aren't intervening.
The notion that any of that last night wasn't excellent for the prospects of this team going forward is way off base.
If they've essentially clinched by the next Jets game in March, I'd have the full battalion from the Marlies called up.

Last thing we want is Matthews dropping the gloves. While it would be nice, he's had wrist issues and any chance of him hurting his wrist again isn't worth the risk.azzurri63 said:lamajama said:Guilt Trip said:And I'm sorry, if I'm Clifford I'm grabbing Pionk or Dubois.
I agree, and if Ritchie wants to earn some goodwill with Leaf fans this would be an ideal time?
I agree but Matthews need to stand up for himself as well. He's a big boy maybe can't fight but you have to let them know you aint putting up with that shit otherwise they'll keep doing it.
Garbage. Sandin is going to be out a long time in comparison most likely.L K said:Pionk got 2 games.

I think thats why Dubois was benched the final 11 minutes or so, a Leaf would have definitely taken him on had he been put out.azzurri63 said:Guilt Trip said:Last thing we want is Matthews dropping the gloves. Ya I was discussing that with my son last night who said the same thing as you. I understand that and makes sense but even if he doesn't want to drop the mitts that's fine but push back of some sort. Even a punch with your glove on, anything. What that shows other teams is your not going to take their BS. I'll say it again other teams take liberty on Leaf players because more often than not there's no retaliation. Other teams aren't stupid so they keep doing it. Comes a time where enough is enough. If Matthews aint going to do it then someone should have come to his defence and planted Dubois. That's your franchise player and there was no pushback or in my opinion very little in regards to Dubois.
It was Ritchie that gave him a lil crosscheck and had a chat with him.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:I think thats why Dubois was benched the final 11 minutes or so, a Leaf would have definitely taken him on had he been put out.azzurri63 said:Guilt Trip said:Last thing we want is Matthews dropping the gloves. Their legendary moment comes in a Sunday night game in early December, when the whole world is watching and the stakes are existential.

I don't see the bottle city of Kandor working out for the NHL. Travel is tough, the T.V. deal would be small relatively, and I'm pretty sure that Brainiac would make the lives of Bettman and Daly a hellscape. I'm all for it based on that last point.

The Kandorian team would have a bit too much of an advantage in road games (assuming they can get up to size), unless every team installed red sun emitters in their arenas, and that seems too cost prohibitive for the league to make a real go of it.
