CARLYLE YOU JACKASS: When you have Gardiner & Rielly available don't put Phaneuf on the point.

Seriously. Since when does the team rely on Phaneuf from the point.

That was just horrible execution in all areas on that 6 on 4. Especially after the cleanly won faceoff. Bad, rushed centering pass. Phaneuf can't keep it in. Shoot in with no speed. Another shoot in that they luckily manage to retrieve. Phaneuf makes a good play to keep it in but flubs it afterwards.

Definitely the opposite of clutch.

You'd think, with a 6 on 4 PP, they'd try to do the obvious thing like getting guys in front and putting pucks towards the net, but, no, not this team.
They miss Clarkson

Why is it Phaneuf and not Franson?

Modified my post already.

Phaneuf had a strong game other than on the PP, but I thought Franson was skating in cement in all areas tonight.  Slow to react it seemed like.

Gardiner/Rielly would have made more sense on the PP there.

Brutal to lose to a team missing 5 of 6 D and almost all of their star players.

Neon Dion lost the puck twice at the blue line in the last minute of the game. Once he couldn't keep it in and second he gave it away.

Big players making big plays at big moments. Must be nice.

I dunno. I don't think keeping the puck in the zone is too big a play to ask for.

I believe they're now leading the league with 7 empty-net goals given up.

Poorly played 1st. Alright 2nd. Both teams looked pretty bad in the 3rd, but, the Pens were successful in making something happen where the Leafs weren't.

Agreed.  Phaneuf has been really good defensively for most all the season.  I love it.  But his days of being on the 1PP should be over IMO.  Speed and disruption are more effective.

Yeah, that was brutal.  I really wanted at least a point out of this one.

3 dump ins with a 2 man advantage? Franson looked slow all night, why not have Gardiner out there? I hate how Carlyle can be so oblivious to things that should be obvious.

Keep putting out the same f'n crap on the PP Randy it's working real good. Tired of their same crap, Phaneuf and Franson don't seem to wanna shoot the puck and everyone trying to setup Kessel. PP cost us the game. Pitts with a makeshift lineup, Crosby basically silent, 5-1 PP advantage and we still can't muster more than 1 goal and another loss. Unbelievable.

On an effing two man advantage you better gain the zone with control. having Phaneuf and Franson out here when control is important is the stupidest thing in the world. This is on Randy.

Edit: I can't get over the fact that Franson dumped it in with no one even close to the zone. What an idiot.

My son and I were disappointed with the execution of the last 3 minutes.  Dumping it in with a 2 man advantage and then being out manned at the boards??

I don't understand why Carlyle wants them to play that way.  Every time they came to the blueline they dumped it why is clearly what they are being told to do.
