Who knows, but Bernier should've had that.

That was a pretty good shot that beats a lot of goalies. That being said, Bernier certainly hasn't inspired a ton of confidence so far this season.

Percy's been good again tonight. He makes passes that I don't expect a lot of the time (even in the D zone).

Komarov/Clarkson/Santo had great shifts in the offensive zone. Hopefully they can find some regular offence going forward.

Nice to have JVR and Kessel off the schneid.

Bozak is looking good to start the year.

Nice to have a decent outing from everyone on the ice (including the goalie).

I watch the first two periods at my dad's and thought Reimer looked really good. I drive home, come check here and read he gets pulled with a possible concussion. Ugh.

I would have given him Tuesday's game based on this start (I assume he may not be able to play).

Interesting that in a game like this that was pretty much over after the 2nd period the 4th line still only had 1 even-strength shift in the 3rd period. Granted, the top line put up points and the 2nd and 3rd lines were great all night, but you'd still think Holland/Kozun/Panik wouldn't have been glued to the bench like that.

Franson with a brutal giveaway there.

He had a brutal giveaway as well that led to the net "off the posts" goal.

I'd sooner see Percy for awhile longer.

He has a long history of brutal giveaways. He's a PP specialist. He should see as little ES ice time as possible.

I get that people think this but historically, it's just not true ( PP specialist ). I don't like him a whole lot but aside from one season he's been an es scorer.

Oh, and would someone please remind Moore that his brother no longer plays hockey for some reason...

I think the Santorelli line has cycled the puck more this season than the whole team did all of last season.

It's a fine thing to see a Leaf line that can actually cycle and take the body.

Let's just trade him for Duclair, ok?

I mean that more in it's how he should be used. He's pretty brutal defensively - to the point that it counteracts his ES offensive contributions. And, for the record, exactly half of his offensive production of the past 2 seasons has been on the PP. He's been a pretty mediocre ES producer since he's taken on a larger role with the Leafs.

Watching the highlights - I'm guessing JVR is looking at the Bobby Ryan deal as a comparable for his next contract.

There's going to be a lot of guys trying to use Ryan's contract as a comparable for their next contract.

A win?  And Pudge with a marker?  Who'd a thought.

I don't really get all the bellyaching about Gardiner being benched instead of Percy.  I've missed the last 2 games but he didn't look good in Game 1 and people said he was brutal in Game 2.  Sounds like a rational decision to me, sitting a player who hadn't gotten it done.  He'll be back on Tuesday I expect.

My issue is that it really is just more of the same from Carlyle.  Gardiner gets scratched, Rielly gets his minutes cut and the slow equally bad defensively defenseman gets a bump in icetime (Polak).  The move on it's own was fine.  Franson deserved to come in, especially after a lopsided loss.  I just find that its the usual suspects that Carlyle seems to hold accountable and few others.

Robidas has looked bad in all three games so far.  He's going to take time coming back from injuries, but you easily could have pulled him to say he just needs to work through the rust.    Polak has been pretty much as advertised.  A guy who wanders out of position to chase hits.  He skates north-south well but his lateral quickness is questionable and he gets beat wide.

I'm not defending Gardiner's play but Carlyle doing what he did last year doesn't strike me with confidence.

As for Reimer getting hit by Moore.  It actually bothers me quite a bit.  That was a pretty benign play but for Moore to have a brother lose his career due to a concussion I really hate those grazing plays on the goaltender.  He had no reason to get that close to Reimer on the play and especially had not reason to skate at him and make any contact with him.

I hope that it was just precautionary because he had a very solid game.  Neither goal was his fault and he made a lot of really good saves tonight that could have turned the game in New York's favour.

It was a solid win overall but New York's roster is so depleted right now that I really want to see more games before jumping on it as a major success.  There were still a lot of turnovers.  The 4th line really struggled to keep the puck out of their own end and they still had trouble clearing pucks along the boards.
