I was referring (I think in retrospect  :) )  that it was inconceivable that he would be selected even as a token Leafs pick to the game.

It wasn't inconceivable. Just unlikely. The lack of talk about it is more a reflection of the fact that nobody talks about the All-Star game.

Bernier going to go the route of another French Canadian goalie who was left in to get lit up?

Something tells me the trade market for Bernier and his .896 SV% won't be the same as Roy's.  :P

Sheer Kreskin on that one!  8)

That, and when there is talk about who should go to the game, it's about who is having a really good year, not just who's playing better than last year. Phaneuf's been better, but he's not having an exceptional season or anything.

Could be a blessing in disguise if any of them had started to believe their own press, that's been debunked in a real hurry.

Also, I lived in San Jose for five years, my phone has been blowing up all night with a bunch of at best, casual Sharks fans. Bleh!

Draft watching wise (still really early to get fixated on it) it was a good night.

30. Columbus - 43GP/34 points  (OTL)
29. Buffalo - 41GP/35 points (Didn't play)
28. Edmonton - 42GP/37 points (Didn't play)
27. Toronto - 40GP/39 points (Loss)

I don't get why Boyes is still playing on this team. Is it still realistic to expect a pick for him at the deadline?

The best he could get was an invitation to spring training by the leafs,  and you're wondering why his still on the team and you're asking if he's worth a pick? I mean... Come on..

That's my point. If he's just dead wood, then what's he doing on the team? Rotate some Marlies in for a some experience/minutes. Leivo is surely a good candidate.

Or let the Marlies keep doing what they're doing and learning how to win and chase a championship?

Seriously?

I never joke about my love for Bob Cole.

I'm guessing the folks running the team are weighing the value/likelihood of Boyes going on a bit of a run and raising his deadline value to something tangible vs. whatever developmental gains you could reasonably expect from giving Leivo or someone 11 minutes a night on the 4th line.

Cole is most certainly senile at this point but his voice.  I do miss that.  Romanuk is very dry and boring I find.

I see what you mean... Fair enough...

I certainly agree that kind of TOI wouldn't work for younger guys like Nylander/Brown - but for older prospects that are reaching fish or cut bait status, I would think 11 minutes (and over 2 minutes of PP time) would be a good test for a few guys in the system - not to mention the "intangible" benefit of motivating/rewarding good play with a call-up. We'll just have to agree to disagree that I'm wrong.
