I'm like 65% convinced that Babcock is playing Gauthier to get back at Dubas for the whole McBackup/Sparks thing.

?  Dubas would have been the one to pick Gauthier to make the Leafs in the first place (he has final decision on who takes the 23 roster spots)

I don't think Dubas has as much weight in the roster decisions. I could see him having more of an influence on the goaltenders(because the team was almost certainly going to lose at least one of them), but with the actual skaters, although the GM may be involved in the decisions, I'd hope that it would fall on the coach

The front office philosophy, according to Laurence Gilman, is that the players play, the coaches coach, and the manager manages; he mentioned that Dubas is a big fan of hiring good people and letting them do their thing. So Dubas determines the active roster, but Babcock has command of the lineup decisions, with extensive discussion/collaboration between the two.

Dubas is pretty high on Gauthier, at least publicly, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded to Montreal at some point.

I don?t understand how anyone can take Jeff O?Neill?s opinion in anything other than scoring pp goals seriously. He?s going to analyze defensive play? Hard work? Seriously?

I?ve been a Leaf fan for 30 years and I?ve never seen this much offense. At this rate Matthews, Tavares, and Marner are going to be 1-2-3 in NHL scoring. I?ve said this enough times already this season , but if they can trade Nylander for a #1 or #2 defenseman this team is going to be SOLID!

Slow down there pilgrim, it's only game 4

Very good first period. Most of the play in the Dallas end. One bad line change leads to the goal by Radulov, can't blame Andy on the deflection.

Oh yeah, that Auston kid is pretty good.

Yeah. I can?t contain my excitement with this offense :)

Kadri with a terrific play at the line to not go offside before ringing it.  That would have been sweet.

My eyeball test is giving Gauthier good marks so far.  He's getting around the ice well.
