Leafs trade Lindholm for Nic Petan

Babcock probably will gripe about the loss of a PK faceoff man.

He could, I dunno, play any of Tavares/Matthews/Kadri there.

I think that's something of the shift we see for the stretch drive. The top line of Tavares and co can be fairly safely relied upon to match up against the other top line. A Marleau-Kadri-Brown can handle secondary shutdown. Why not build out a '4th' line that takes on a more speed and skill approach with Ennis-Petan-Moore.

Because they ain't heavy, my brother.

Voltron'd together though...

I don't know enough about Petan but Ennis and Moore probably play a "heavier" game than Gauthier.

I know your post was mostly a joke, but I still felt the need to address this.

If Petan can play centre then Moore-Petan-Brown seems like a pretty good 4th line when healthy. Completely changes things there.

That's a 4th line with scoring potential.

Lindholm is only 50.9% in all areas and 47.3% shorthanded in the D zone. Simple solution...Use Tavares(54.6%) or Kadri(53.4%) or Matthews(52.2%) or Nylander(54%). For D zone shorty faceoffs, he can use JT at 55% or keep using Hyman 56%.
Babs has options, he's just set in his ways.

In defense of Par, he got off to a decent start at C but then got stuck in quicksand.

So who takes his place on the PK?  How about ... Auston Matthews?
Not in Babs' world.

Funny how fast some guys fall out of favour. I remember reading this article and thinking that the Leafs finally found their 4th line centre...

It's a very good example of why assessing players after 10 games is a bad idea.

Good point, addition by subtraction. I would be thrilled to have another skilled player on the PK.

But that was Babs moving him to wing. Lindholm was actually fine at centre but he had to get the Goat in.

Lindholm was put on the wing very early in the season. From games 4-10 he was on Kadri's line. If anything that was the reason people thought he looked better than he actually was.

Glad you're on top of it because I remember him being fine early on. Oh well, no need to worry anymore.

That hard "no comment" on a question about Marner's contact
Liked that...and he said Petan will be a Leaf

Never seen Dubas so aggressive on a reply. Normally he's all about talking about the process, we'll get to that in due time , but today was a hard "no comment" right on that question

Doesn't want the spotlight to come off Petan and his big day!!!

Blagh.  I was hoping for Brown for Simmonds deal.
You think you're disappointed, imagine Babcock, he wanted Glendenning and gets a small guy nobody really knows about

You know Philly would be asking for Johnsson or Kappy. If you were the Flyers would you do the Brown for Simmonds deal?

Hey Petan was on the World Juniors!! Win win lol. You know what, I'm betting he's faster then Goat so if he can play some good defensive hockey he's an upgrade for our 4th line centre.
