Guilt Trip said:Glad you're on top of it because I remember him being fine early on. Oh well, no need to worry anymore.CarltonTheBear said:Guilt Trip said:But that was Babs moving him to wing. Lindholm was actually fine at centre but he had to get the Goat in.
Lindholm was put on the wing very early in the season. From games 4-10 he was on Kadri's line. If anything that was the reason people thought he looked better than he actually was.

Well, who knows, maybe he turns out to be a decent player. Worth taking a chance on.

He's not a Mitch Marner, but multiple 100-pt seasons in junior and then going a point per game in the AHL is not nothing.
Like Leivo, skill players need other skilled players to play with, and he wasn't getting that whatsoever with the Jets.
And if he can replace the Goat, all is good.Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:herman said:Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:herman said:https://www.arcticicehockey.com/2018/10/10/17960236/nic-petan-winnipeg-jets-top-25-under-25

Oh I agree, perfectly happy with the trade. In my addendum to the post, I just pointed out that the writer may be indulging in wishful thinking. But there's no cost to the move, so let's hope for the best.

They took Hartman and a 4th for him, so . . .
But it doesn't mean Philly would have settled for that from the Leafs. I doubt we'll ever know what was the ask/offer. I'm pretty sure if it was Brown and a 4th, Dubas would have made that deal.Frank E said:bustaheims said:Guilt Trip said:You know Philly would be asking for Johnsson or Kappy. Right...so I don't think I was that far off.

CarltonTheBear said:Simmonds would have played 4th line minutes and PP time, or taken taken away from Kapanen. Then he would have walked as an UFA. I'm not sure I'd take that over Brown who plays 4th line minutes and PK time, and will likely bring some sort of asset back in the summer if/when he's traded.
Frank E said:Yeah, I can't agree with that.
I think a guy like Simmonds that plays a physical game could really help on Matthews' wing, especially in a Boston series.

If this was two year ago I'd absolutely agree. He's a shadow of his former self these days. And if he was playing on Matthews wing he'd be holding him back.
Simmonds has 15 5-on-5 points this season, a P/60 of 1.11.
On the Leafs that would put him tied for 9th among forwards (with Connor Brown) in points, and dead last in points per 60 (yes, Lindholm and Gauthier would be above him).
Nik the Trik said:I forget who it was on TSN who said that the Leafs failed to address any of their three needs which they identified as:
1) Back-up goaltending
2) RHD
3) Toughness
Where I think I disagree is the idea that today was a good day to do any of those things. That said, I agree that these are things that the team should keep an eye towards as they enter a different phase of team building. I think the team is pretty good for small, speedy skilled forwards. They should start rolling the dice on some bigger guys in the hopes that they can develop into guys who can contribute offensively and put pressure on the defense. Ditto they should invest some higher picks in goaltending.
