Lightning @ Leafs - Mar. 11th, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

Also let?s point out once again how much less simple it is for the Leafs to attack when they don?t have Jake Gardiner turning pucks into OZ possession regularly.

SportsNet pointing out what has fueled a lot of Tampa?s success: those steps of getting up from failure.

Tonight the Lightning are playing right and disciplined even with the early freebies from the deflections. They keep pushing and pressing and working regardless of the score. It?s a mature veteran team that knows what they need to do.

I'm sorry, and this is not meant as a shot at you herman, but I think this whole line of reasoning -- that they are a veteran team and knows what to do, as opposed to the Leafs -- is just not true.  The Leafs have been through a couple of playoff series now.  They have a Cup-winning coach that preaches "pushing and pressing and working regardless of the score."  They know the right way to play.  They just don't do it.  On this night, add to that the fact that TB's overall defense is better, and their forwards as a group of 12 are better.

I think there?s a major difference between knowing what?s being preached and living it out.

Exactly my point.  At their worst, which is by no means a majority of the time, this team reminds me of the final days of Quinn's tenure, when they literally tuned him out.  I don't know what to think about Babcock. More often than not I am inclined to agree with those who say he doesn't get enough out of the lineup.

I don?t think they?re tuning him out. They just need to experience it.

Circumstantially this game is an uphill climb to begin with and some early bounces snowballed. Rest up and regroup.

Experience what?

Getting shellacked but continuing to work. Facing injuries but continuing to work. Taking three skate tips in the net and continuing to work. Shrug off the loss and continue to work.

Well, we won this game by -4 goals!

Any time Matthews, and the likes of Brown, score a goal, it's a win for sure!

How do you think they did tonight on the first 3?

This was the worst most pathetic game this team has played all season. I am embarrassed for the people who actually paid to watch that. Babcock has some work to do. If he cant get the team up for this game we as fans are going to have awful spring.

I thought they kept trying even if they fell short in capability. They broke through several times but couldn?t sustain it.

I think people are overreacting and I'm usually a guy that gets down after losses. I'm not worried about this one given the circumstances tonight

Hot mic captured a bad Mo-ment.

If the Leafs are serious about the organization being populated with good people first and foremost, I would expect Rielly to publicly apologize and sit a few games.

Yeah, until the dogging-it line change on the PP I was encouraged by the previous few minutes.
