Lombardi to Phoenix

I like Lombardi. I think he can still be an effective, speedy 3rd liner with some PK time. But like everyone else says, there's too many forwards on this team. Even with Lombardi gone, Kadri and Frattin may still not get a spot on the opening roster.

I agree with all of that. I'll be routing for Lombardi to play well, but I just didn't want him to take a spot from Kadri or Frattin. I don't think that Lombardi can even be faulted for anything last season, it was remarkable that he played as many games as he did.

mirtle: The pick Leafs receive is in 2014. Right now it's a fourth rounder but can improve to third if Lombardi re-signs or reaches certain stats.

I'm a little disappointed, in as much as I think an argument can be made that the better course of action with Lombardi would have been to let him play and deal him at the deadline, but being as that carried its own risks and this frees up a spot...meh.

I would have liked to get a little bit more back for him, but oh well.  I have no doubt he will regain his scoring touch now and make the Leafs regret this deal.  :'(

I'm trying to find the exact amount, but, no one seems to be reporting it yet. What we know so far is that it's $500K for his signing bonus, plus . . . something.

Why didn't you tell us about this $500 K figure before?

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of traded contracts a team can keep salary on ?

So that makes it Lebda and Slaney for Franson, 1 year of Lombardi and a 4th, correct?

Even if Franson never gets off the mark with us, I still call that trade a win for Burke.  But it wasn't the enforced fleecing of Poile that many thought it was.

Hey, I think I thought that, too....  :-[ :P 8) :o

The Leafs sent a 2013 4th to Nashville as part of the deal since Lombardi played more than 60 games last season.

If you are routing for Lombardi be sure to use your GPS...
