I'd give MacWilliam one heck of a look here, he's everything that Granberg was billed as, hard as nails and can skate.

Year in the AHL and replaces Fraser next year likely.

I think there is going to be quite a bit of turnover on D next one-two years. I can see Fraser, Gunnar, Liles,  and maybe Franson gone in his last year of his deal (assuming a 2 year deal)

Granberg looks a little more polished in his skating, mobility and positional play but you do have to like the physical element that Macwilliam brings.

Brennan's also looked really good IMO.

Yeah, I was surprised at how well he played. I doubt there's room for him in our top-6, but he's a guy I'd be happy to have around as a 7 or 8.

I've been somewhat critical of Clarkson for only having one more in the shootout and on the breakaway, but man does he have that down pat.

I know its tough to gauge these guys against inferior preseason lineups but I found MacWilliam very mobile and positionally sound and more so than Granberg in that regard.  He makes Fraser look like he is skating with guards on.

Good to see he's got a sense of humour about it. If he plays the way he did tonight with the actual roster, there may not be many overtime games this year for the Leafs.

Watching him with the puck is a thing of beauty.

A few observations from tonights game:

Clarkson tried to fight Holmstrom after his scuffle with Phil. Followed him up the ice. It'll be nice to see him on Kadri's wing.

Bozak is out of shape. Either that or he has a sore groin.

Bradley Ross still needs some seasoning but he hits and gets himself into good scoring positions.

Gardiner is really good out there. He will be our best defender this year.

Since the game wasn't important, I don't worry about the shoot-out.  However, it was kind of disappointing to see them making a mockery of it, when it might be the difference between playoffs or not.

How did they make a mockery of it?

And how might last night be the difference between the making the playoffs or not? They practice the shoot out almost every day. Last night was no different.
