IMHO he is the only trade bait that could land a legit top 2 D (without moving any of the rokies)

I don't think he's that valuable, look for instance at what Taylor Hall landed, but I think to the right team he could return something significant all the same.

Summer: we're gonna need some better d-men
Start of the season: we're gonna need some better d-men
November 15th:  we're gonna need some better d-men

I know a coach has to stick up for his players and everything but I'd love to hear Laviolette's explanation as to why that wasn't essentially the word for word definition of what should draw the instigator.

I'm pretty sure laviolette was complaining about the non-call on the boarding, not the instigator.

Right so the offensive thing that Komarov does really well and earned him a spot on the PP is...

JVR has been pretty sluggish so far this year but let's not forget that he's got some skill.

I've always felt JVR has always struggled to live up to the idea of the player that people want him to be, which is sort of an evolutionary Dave Andreychuk or Gary Roberts, and not so much focused on the fact that he's a more skill/speed type.

A good observation.  Marner and Bozak's speed is really setting him up for some flash rather than quick-hands-at-the-goalmouth all the time.  Last goal a case in point.

Tyler Bozak during the Phil Kessel years: .613 ppg

Tyler Bozak in his 73 games post-Kessel: .657 ppg

With all the obsession over Matthews drought, he's looked far more effective than Nylander over the last stretch.

This is true.  He's gone stone-cold cold.
