So Tallinder dislocated his shoulder?  Big opportunity for Holzer, I guess.

I think the spot was probably Holzer's to lose any way. Just means Tallinder isn't likely to find a contract with anyone now.

So Clarkson has left for precautionary reasons after a fight?  Words fail.

He got caught with a pretty good left there in that fight. I don't think he can see out of his right eye.

It looked like a headbutt to me (accidental or not), but I didn't get a great look at it.

It was a hook to head, and it caught him good...I wouldn't be surprised if he was a little dizzy after that one too.

Someone has to fight.  I would rather see Clarkson fight then Colton Orr taking a spot on the 4th line.

No. No one has to fight. It's not an essential part of the sport.

THe key part of my question was the timing. Given what he went through last year, why risk injury in a fight in pre-season? He's got a lot to prove as a player, but his toughness probably isn't one of those things.

I think you make a fine point there Frog.

You know who has a legitimate argument for fighting in the preseason.  The 13th/14th forward grinder who is trying to find a way to distinguish himself from the other 13th/14th forward grinders to get to travel on the chartered airplane instead of the chartered bus/coach level airplane.  Clarkson has no business fighting in the preseason.  A guy like Bodie has a reason to fight.  Carter Ashton could be argued has a reason to get in a welterweight fight.  Orr/McLaren are going to mostly fight meaningless fights anyway so if they fight it isn't really anything new/different.

Clarkson should be focusing on trying to turn around from a crap season.  Instead he's going to have the same "started slow" excuse as last year for being a non-NHL calibre player.
