R1, G7: Lightning @ Leafs - May 14th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

This team didn?t fold at any point. That?s not something that could be said in previous years. There was no quit. A bounce or a call goes their way, and they move on - even with the awful officiating the NHL put out there every night now. It was that tight.

I?m just gutted right now.  The Leafs put it all on the line there.  Can?t hold it against them.

One team got a goal called back.  The other team got gifted a 5 on 3 when trailing.  Officiating was shit in this game.  The amount of holding Tampa got away with behind the play was absurd.

The sad part for me is that I wasn't that excited for this game.  G1, I was jacked.  And then it drains out of me as we lumber on to the same old result.

Not that Campbell was bad, but an upgrade in net is at the top of my list for this off-season. Outside of that, some changes around the edges of the roster are probably all that?s really needed.

Knee jerk maybe. But this is a very good team that, this year anyway, had to play the champs in round one. I don?t think Campbell is the guy to get them through though. I still always feel he?s the little engine that could? until he couldn?t. He kept us in some games but did steal any. Not hating on him though. This team, with elite goaltending, would be unstoppable. But you don?t just go find an elite goaltender.

I think Campbell crapped the bed more in game 4. Hrudey talks about the Leafs blowing their chance in game 4 but it's hard to start on time when your goalie let's in the first shot. Then he adds to the 2nd goal against. He did it again in game 5 with a crappy goal but made up for it after that. I have no issue overall with Jack in the series but agree they need an upgrade. You can't average 3 goals a game against Vasy and lose the series.

I was furious during the game, I think the manner of the loss was most upsetting.

With time comes perspective, they're still capable of winning, hold home ice advantage etc.

I just don't believe they'll do it, they've given no reason to believe they will.

I've won national titles in my life, I've never come across a winning team that has laid down the way the Leafs did in game 4.

I hope I'm wrong.

I said this after game 4, I'm pretty zen about this one.

I hoped they'd win, but expected them to fall.

I think this is a pretty good team, for them to win they're going to need to find one or two big impact players on ELCs and just become too deep to be deniable.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying a new head coach.

Like this is what coin toss series results in. Credit to Tampa for stifling pretty much every push we tried to make. They play a strong, concerted structure. Of course having some extra help doesn?t hurt from the orange armbands, but Leafs needed to capitalize on those opportunities with more urgency from the get go. They will be less nervous next year.

But some of that is on the D.  Brodie came up small tonight.  He added some punch to the blue line when they first got him but I'd move on from him, and maybe Muzz too.  They need to build the D around Rielly, Lilejgren, and Sandin.

I can't believe it, nothing less then Dubas maybe Keefe and one of the big contracts will do, time to make changes.

Don?t be a goof.

I'm not being a goof, I'm sick of it, I'm 62 years  old and I'm sick of this, we were the better team again, it should not have gone to game 7 again, up 3-1 last year and 3-2 this year and here we are again. Heads need to roll, period.

You are a goof. This is NOT the same team as the last two years. I?m actually the same age as you and if you actually are a true fan you?d realize this is one of the very best teams the Leafs have ever had. There ARE other great teams you know?just ask Winnipeg and the Flames when the Oilers were crap kicking the rest of the league. There is no easy path to a Cup?.which in saying that, last year WAS the best opportunity the Leafs had in many years. THAT?S the team to be choked at.

No they won't.  No team labors under the fanbase's expectations and the weight of past failiures like we do.  It's not a curse, but it's a burden and a real one.

This was Keefe?s first real full season. He helped the team to their best regular season ever. He wasn?t out coached in this series, either. I think he deserves another one before the axe comes out.

Well, I spend entirely too much time on following the Leafs so I'll embrace the summer as best I can.

Scar tissue is basically armour at this point. No more futzing about taking off nights on bottom feeders next year. New standard.

Seems really unfair to have to play this team in the first round.  It probably wouldn't bug me as much if they just beat the garbage Habs last year and likely the Jets after that and finally got some experience winning in the playoffs

Playoffs are a joke but Bettman the moron says nothings changing. Bottom line is you?re going to be playing a good team regardless and you have to beat them at some point. Thing I hate is you seem to play the same teams or potentially play the same teams. Nice to see a different matchup.

Keefe isn't going anywhere nor should he.

Win or lose my summers are never impacted by what the Leafs do.

Extremely disappointed.
Most complete team I have seen in years.
Is it a lack of heart ?  I don't think so...
Changes ???
We have the 2 Swedes on defense waiting....
I feel lost.  Don't think I will be watching
much hockey now...
See ya next year
