R1G2: Leafs @ Bruins - May 4th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Finally we get Frattin back in and he plays a whale of a game...Gardiner looked very good, the whole team dymanic as moving as one entity...I will commend Orr on his rocking Chara

I owe aplogy to Carlyle, I often questioned his decisions, but the way he did get ready his team for game 2 deserves ton of respect. He knew what he was doing, players responded exactelly as he evisioned.
On a related note I am also liking the cohesivness of the the Leafs. They seem to be a real team, not just bunch of 24 professionals. They care for each other, they fight for each other, they are not selfish (to my liking they are passing too much, just shoot the puck) which is very encouraging and coaching personel deserves respect for that too.
Fascinting night, so many great performances, so many players elevated their game, very memorable game.
Not only the Bruins are beatable, the Leafs can outmuscle them, outscore them, outsmart them. Even Phil Kessel can score on them. Things considered impossible months ago. They need to duplicate this monster effort, but right now they know it is possible. Huge building block.

I thought Carlyle and Nonis to a point were major reasons why the Leafs made the playoffs.  RC is more willing to change things around and bench or sit players when they don't perform even if they have big salaries.  I believe if Burke was still GM, Leafs would have ransomed the team for Luongo (just my opinion) and the Leafs system under RW would still be sucking.

Got my pride back in being a Leafs fan so can't help feeling good about the entire organization.

At least now I don't have to hear bandwagoners chicken little after the first damn game anymore or call for the firing of Carlyle as if we got swept.

Great win last night

I've seen lots of Leafs car flags in Kitchener/Waterloo but I can't seem to find any anywhere.  I haven't been to crappy tire yet but I assume that's a good bet.  Any advice?  :)

I got my Leafs, Red Wings and Blackhawks flags all at Flags Unlimited here in Barrie. Ten bucks each, nice quality :)?.. I tried all the bluddy sports type stores here in town, nada.

Flags Unlimited has a website, you can probably order online etc, but you probably wouldn't get it for a week or so :\

"Crappy tire" a.k.a. Canadian Tire :)  had plenty of them in stock last time I checked.  Have a look.
(Assorted varieties -- antenna flags, large flags, car window flags, etc.  Kind of pricey, though).

What I liked about this game was that it was earned. No lucky bounces, no bs penalty that led to the gwg no goalie stealing the game...

Keep in mind Burke brought in Carlyle, so the Leafs wouldn't likely still be sucking under Ron Wilson's system.

I don't think Burke would have brought in Luongo, either. I mean, he had all summer to do so if he really wanted to. He had a price he was willing to pay. Gillis wanted more. That was pretty much the end of it until Gillis brought his price down, by which time, Reimer had shown himself to be more than capable going forward.

And, let's be honest. This is still very much the team that Burke built. There are only 2 guys on the roster that weren't in the organization before Burke was let go - McLaren and O'Byrne. Sure, Burke may have made some different moves over the past few months, but, he deserves a lot of credit for the team we see on the ice right now.

I agree with all of your comments, thought about responding to the Luongo speculation, but all I have is speculation as well, which I didn't think was pertinent.

Oh, and I never commented on the actual game but proud of the team including coaching staff. Kessel rising to the occasion like the elite player he is.

Go Leafs Go
