I wonder if Nash is still strongly regarded for Canada. As much as he's risen to the occasion for them in the past, his play this season certainly hasn't merited a spot on the team.

He's been hurt for much of this year, no?

He had a concussion at the start of the year, so there probably are some lingering effects.

I bet the captain will call a players-only meeting.

I know you're not a fan of Phaneuf, but a players only meeting might not be a bad idea - as long as the consensus is "Screw what Carlyle says, let's play a system we enjoy and can make work."

There was a lot of talk about the Leafs being on an upswing with them winning 3 in a row and points in however many games. But all the problems were still there. They aren't going away.

It would have been one thing if they won those games by actually scoring more goals than the other team, but, 2 of them were in the shootout. They had 1 win and 2 glorified ties.

EDIT: Oh, hey, somewhere along the line tonight I passed the 10k post threshold. Neat.

That wasn't (much of) a criticism, I actually hope he will.  And, while obviously he won't do what you suggest, he really does need to challenge the team to step it up.

You know, I'm kind of glad the team got embarrassed like this tonight. With the way they've been playing, they deserve to feel bad. They need to take a good long look at themselves.

Exactly. I have no faith in Carlyle or Nonis but I hope I am proved wrong.

Trade Kadri, he has been awful for 2 months. Play Gleason. Gardiner is to soft to be playing defense. TELL KESSEL TO SHOT, I am getting tired of stupid passes. There is my rant. That is all...

Earlier I tweeted that the Rangers scored 7.5% of their goals this season tonight. It was actually 6.6%. I thought it was 8-1.

Rangers were the 4th lowest scoring team in the league prior to this game.

Lol, Grapes must've been on something tonight. Ripped into van Riemsdyk, then went on about how it's okay for guys to kiss guys.

Like the 6-0 Columbus game 2 months ago? It's been garbage since then. Maybe 3/4 decent games, that's about it.

Glad I tuned out. Did they sack Carlyle yet?

They can give him a toaster for his redundancy package.

How aren't these fans boo'ing like crazy? This is the worst game all season, and that's saying something.

Oh, I booed.  I booed very hard.  Part of the problem is half the upper bowl left after the 6-1 goal.  Tried to get a 'Go Leafs Go' chant going early in the game.  Maybe got an entire section worth of fans going.  After that the atmosphere was dead.  The team sucked the life out of the crowd though.  Absolutely no passion from the team on the ice.  They skate slow.  They hold on to the puck and take away their own scoring chances.

I understand that Phaneuf is on the wrong side on the PP, but he has shooting opportunities and does nothing with them.  Even if it is a weak shot, those can get tipped.  But not for the Leafs.  Everything apparently must be a tap-in or highlight reel goal.

That was embarassing.  I'm glad that Orr came out every other shift in the 3rd period though.  The highlight of the night aside from the Leafs finding new ways to not play an iota of defense was when he almost killed Holland.

By the way Carlyle.

Colton Orr - 9:51
Peter Holland - 8:52

Screw off.  That might be sending a message to the team that they need to step up.  It was also a screw you to the fans who paid a boatload of money to watch that garbage and seeing Colton Orr skate around like he has no clue what he is doing is not my idea of a good time.

Holy crap I stopped watching at 3-0, 7-1 against a tired Rangers team?  What a joke.
