Rick Nash potentially available

Adding Nash would be very tempting, right now for public consumption (through the media) Burke is saying no to moving Gardiner, but I think he has to be considering it. I can see the case for and against making this move and if I was in charge I'd have a very tough time making this decision.

I'm with you on this. Tough call. If they don't outright demand Gardiner I have no problem finding a deal in there somewhere, but Gardiner or bust makes it hard. I would probably offer a 1st over Gardiner and see if that gets it done.

#SNtrade. Going into Sunday nite, its sounding like #Rangers have backed out on the Nash sweepstakes. #Bluejackets demands remain too rich.

I hope that's true....

If you can get a player like Nash, that first overall impact player, why not move Gardiner?  I like Gardiner, but really  is the team going to be built around him?  Is he a franchise defenceman?

I don't know... but why don't we try to hold onto our youth for once and try to find out?  Trading for Rick Nash has bust written all over it.

I tend to agree. How old is 27? Maybe old enough to be in your prime hockey years right now, and old enough to be exiting your prime hockey years by the time the Leafs have solved their other problems.

It is a tough call, but this type of move has never worked for the Leafs.

Oh, I don't know. I remember a guy named Gilmour who almost single handily turned the franchise around in the 90's. He worked out pretty well. That guy Nieuwendyk wasn't a bad pick up either. By the way, Gilmour was 2 yrs older than Nash is now when he joined the Leafs.

Yes, but if this represents the most recent glory days of the Leafs, we are celebrating teams that didn't make the finals, let alone win the Cup.

As much respect as I have for what Nieuwendyk and especially Gilmour did in a Leafs jersey, I don't think the Leafs are a Rick Nash away from turning the corner. I'd rather see the Leafs bite the bullet and go young until they have a very young and very talented core that can then be topped up by trades and signings.

Apparently they have been pulled from the game, not sure the truth behind this, just a rumour running around twitter right now, anyone know whats going on?

Just checked the stats of the Marlies game, it was a 6-1 win, with Dupuis and Dechamps running the show, while I coud not find an ice time for each player, they both played, I just don't know how much they did it.

The Leafs should keep Colborne... as for Kadri I have a feeling that Burke drafted him because Ottawa wanted to trade up with the Leafs to draft Kadri... but I don't see the love for him...

I found this:

Mark Masters ‏ @markhmasters
Toronto Marlies have tomorrow off but note scribbled on locker room whiteboard reminds players to 'Keep your cell phone handy' #Tradecentre

I have no problem giving up Colborne for Nash.  I really don't see him as being a #1 center down the line.

THere's speculation that the price Columbus is asking for Nash actually went up the longer negotiations went, not down. At this point, I'll be shocked if he's moved before the deadline.

Yeah, that's where I'm at with this whole thing. If I'm Howsen, I shoot for the moon and if I miss, oh well, I still have a pretty friggin' good player in Nash.

Yup. Pretty much what I expected from day 1.

Well yeah, but your team still sucks and will continue to do so without some massive changes. Let's not forget they made a big change with Carter in the summer and that had Zero effect.

In fact, for the right return there's all kinds of reasons Hoson could move Nash.

that's the thing..the right return ...and if he doesn't feel he can get that now ..he can take a shot in the offseason too

I don't know... Nash is still young enough and under contract long enough to be part of something there.
