Rick Nash potentially available

THere's speculation that the price Columbus is asking for Nash actually went up the longer negotiations went, not down. At this point, I'll be shocked if he's moved before the deadline.

Yeah, that's where I'm at with this whole thing. If I'm Howsen, I shoot for the moon and if I miss, oh well, I still have a pretty friggin' good player in Nash.

If Nash isn't traded at the deadline, then, I'll believe that Blue Jackets GM Howson has been 'testing the waters', so to speak, just to see what teams are willing to give up on their roster for Nash.  Howson knows that no one (not the Rangers nor any other) would want to give up an asset deemed essential to the team's development.

Unless a team needs a Nash and has enough depth to part with a package, I doubt he (Nash) will be a goner in Columbus now.

Who knows, all that could  change before 3pm Monday.

Howsen may be testing waters and trying to drive up a price, but the vibe I get is that Nash and his agent want out now, so Howsen still runs the risk of having a big money player that doesn't really want to be there anymore. So I'm not sure it's that much of a consolation prize to say that we still have Nash here, the team is still in limbo if Nash isn't gone by tomorrow.

Howsen can also go back to Nash and say, fine, you want out, but I need a longer list of teams if you actually want to be dealt.

Maybe that is what happens, but I think Howsen is under more pressure than Rick Nash is, Nash has 7.8 million reasons to be patient and wait it out until he gets what he wants. Howsen has his job to worry about.

If Nash was made it clear to Howsen that he wants out -- IF -- then I think he'll go somewhere tomorrow.  What's the point of having a lameduck captain lolling about the last 20 games of another lost season?  If I'm the GM of that, I get on with planning the next phase now.

Me too, I look at that like Burke does, if you don't want to be here, you're on a plane.

If Howson believes he'll be able to get a better return for him at the draft, he'll wait for the draft - lame duck captain or not.

Well, it depends on Nash's professionalism. If he honors his contract and still shows up and gives it his 100% then Howson's primary responsibility is to the Blue Jackets. If that means moving Nash for a better return at a later date or holding onto him then that's the smarter move.

The media and fans are always complaining that the Leafs need a "star-top 6 forward"... now they could be on the cusp of getting one of the games best and some are saying its a bad move? I am all for the Nash deal.. we have enough depth in the farm system to let Gardiner or anyone else go in my opinion.  I just hope Burke finds a way to make it work!

What does this mean for us Busta? I need to know now.

For you and me? Nothing. For Leafs? Probably also nothing.

They've used the term "glimmer of hope" three times in the last minute on TSN. The entire panel is praying he gets traded so they can stop over analyzing the Pahlsson deal.

#SNtrade. Told #Leafs will not make final push on # Bluejackets Nash. #Rangers and #Sharks still trying.

Good. I'd hate for anything to interrupt Margarita Mondays at the ACC.
