Round 1: Canadiens (A1) vs. Senators (W1)

A Bruins fan wrote that? lol

Yeah, it's hard to disagree with a lot of what he says.

The one that really grinds my gears most though is his indignation when called for a penalty, it's really disingenuous and speaks to character.

We know all players will chirp a bit when called, but he takes it way too far all the time.

I wonder how any player would look if someone watched them constantly for any swing in another player's direction or embellishment.

Well, I mean, I don't think it's actually that hard. Those two Boychuk/Ference videos in particular I don't really know what Subban did wrong there. Subban gave Boychuk a lovetap after Boychuk tried to hit him low. Who cares? As for the Krejci hit, it wasn't an elbow to the head, and he left his feet on impact. That's a clean hit.

My biggest problem with that rant is that a Bruins fan complaining about another player/team diving is pretty much the funniest thing ever as they're probably the most guilty team in the league when it comes to that stuff:

And then slewfooting? Come on, that's practically Marchand's middle name.

I hear you and agree with the Boston stuff, they are as bad if not worse.

But in all the "categories" he used Subban is at least partially guilty and the sum of all parts really make me dislike him on the ice.

Off ice he seems great.

i have to say i'm enjoying just how miserable the habs are looking.  They won the first three and you could tell they thought this was a cakewalk ...now all of the sudden..it's a series.

Makes for some great hockey, eh?

Ottawa 5 Montreal 1.  Montreal leads series 3 games to 2.

Every playoff series or round has a hero.  In this one between these two division rivals, it has come upon to be Craig Anderson, the Ottawa netminder who took over from Andrew Hammond after Game 2.

What a difference the switch made as suddenly, the Ottawa Senators have made this a series in the words of hockey fans watching, as those "pesky" never-say-die Sens have battled back from a 3-0 series deficit to narrow it down to 3-2.

With their latest triumph a 5-1 romp over the confused and confusing Canadiens, arguably one of the league's elite teams, Ottawa now sports all the confidence it needs in attempting to stave off elimination when these two teams reconvene at the "madhouse" which is the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata on Sunday for Game 6.
And a madhouse it will be!

What gives with these Habs?  Perhaps many (including les Canadiens) took it for granted that the Habs were going to be too much for the Sens to handle.  That became no more evident than when the Habs went up 3-0 in the series, and with Ottawa's Mark Stone slightly injured yet playing, it could not have looked worse for the 'hapless' Sens.

But...Anderson stops 'em (has stopped 120 of 123 in the last three games combined)  and voil?, Sens forward Bobby Ryan finally gets it going scoring two goals in Game 5.

What will happen next?  This series is now becoming a good mystery.  Truth is, anything can happen. We'll find out Sunday.

Habs up 1-0 after 1 in game 6. Can the sens pull a Calgary or is this the end of the road?

I was really surprised that they won the last game so handily and wondered whether they were starting to get into Price's head - we will see how this one shakes out.

If Ottawa loses by one goal tonight there is going to be some seriously murdered refs.  They blew down a play that Price never had control of and on the same sequence in the flow of the play Ottawa scored so it was a play that wasn't affected by the blown whistle.

Montreal up 1-0

Healy tried to justify the "quick whistle" by saying that it was to prevent Ottawa from slashing Price. Only saw the replay, but wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth?

Also, the way this is going, it wouldn't surprise me to see Montreal go up 2-0, Ottawa get one in the 3rd, then an empty netter or two. The way this is going, I don't see them getting two goals on Price.

Edit: Ottawa playing bumblepuck for the first minute and a half of this powerplay. Montreal should have scored there. Yikes.

Kelly Hrudey says that the quick-whistle was a good call. Says the ref HAD to blow it dead because he lost sight of the puck. That was always a strange idea to me. I would imagine that refs lose sight of the puck a lot over the course of the game.

What I don't understand is why have two refs and two linesman if the responsibility for a call is the guy with the worst vantage point.  It's a stupid argument from Healy/Hrudy.

Bah. Goalies sticking up for goalies.

Edit: Also, I watched the last half of the second period. That was one boring stretch of hockey. Montreal playing the trap, and most of the Ottawa shots were aimed at that annoying crest of Price.
