SCF: Pittsburgh Penguins vs. San Jose Sharks

Sometimes, you just gotta laugh at how out of touch the cliches are. Like, when the broadcast crew talks about these teams fighting for the right to draft 30th when both teams have traded their 1st round pick.

Crosby is the best player in the world, but he's still a weenie.

Joe T., OTOH, looks like a stern prophet from the Old Testament.

San Jose 4    Pittsburgh 2.    Penguins lead series 3 games to 2.

Sharks goaltender Martin Jones made 44 saves and the Sharks offence finally got some goals on the board particularly from Logan Couture with a three-point performance, and defenceman Brent Burns, who made his presence felt throughout the game.  Joe Pavelski got his first goal in the series, scoring an empty netter on an assist from linemate Joe Thornton.

All in all, a good effort by the Sharks staving off elimination, thus denying Pittsburgh the Cup win on home ice.

Both teams scored all of their goals in a span of five minutes all in the first period, thereby setting an NHL Stanley Cup Final record for the fastest goals scored in that time frame.

Game 6 goes Sunday in San Jose.

Jones just felt he had to give the Pens the taste of losing at home in the Stanley Cup final.

I'd bet he'd like to give them the taste of losing the Stanley Cup at home.

Man, good for the Penguins, and yeah, 30th it is, thanks Seguin, er, Hamilton, er, Kessel. Good for Phil, though I don't think he deserves the Smythe.

I don't think Bettman's that bad of a Commissioner but booing him is still probably my favourite tradition.

Tough for Kessel to lead the team in goals and points and not win the MVP.

Burying one of those chances in the final two games probably would have clinched it for him.

Good for Crosby though, he did a lot of the heavy lifting.
