Right there. That's guaranteed money. There may be no intention to play after next year. This also allows the Leafs to trade/protect Kerfoot and Engvall so it is significant. There's not much chance Francis is taking Spezza or Simmonds. I think they already know who Seattle is taking. Might be a concession from the Leafs side to get him <1M. Fully buriable, but also fully paid in the AHL, which is also local for Simmonds' family considerations.

He broke his wrist blocking a shot. That's not a wear and tear injury related to age or stamina.
