Tank Nation: Matthews Edition

I would expect to see Bozak, Polak, P.A.P  and one of the goalies depart and perhaps Komarov if someone wants to give up a first for him.

There's currently a 6-way tie for last place.

I think Winnipeg is going to go full tank and trade Ladd and Buff.

They might be tough to "beat".

But I do think Calgary, Buffalo, and Edmonton get out of the basement.

I think the Leafs will be up against Winnipeg and Columbus.

I can't remember seeing anything like this battle for the basement. I think the Leafs need more lead in their collective skates.

I look forward to some trades and, hopefully, a little separation from the rest of these Tank pretenders.  8)

Man, the Leafs can't even lose right.

If Vancouver beat Calgary tonight (assuming Buffalo loses to Boston), there'll be a 7 point gap between those 6 teams and the teams ahead of them.

I am not too worried about getting into a bottom 4 position.  Once they start offloading players, this team could go oh-for-March.

Mostly good night. Habs, Jets and Flames win, Leafs lose. Oilers lose. Sabres pick up 1 point.

Toronto now in just a 3-way tie for last.

We need McDavid to haul the sad sack Oilers up the standings.

The Marlies are having an awesome season so maybe offloading players might result in TO actually upgrading the roster.

There will probably be crappy players coming back in the trades, possibly salary dumps. This is good for two reasons:
1. Marlies won't have to be recalled
2. Possibly means a higher or additional pick is included.

Also, the players coming up from the Marlies are more likely to be guys like Frattin and Clune, who haven't exactly been significant contributors to the Marlies, and are pretty established as not being contributors at the NHL level.

I'm hoping the new NHL websites TOI thing is broken.  It has McDavid playing 26 minutes midway through the 3rd period.  It also has Tavares at 29 minutes.

Very true. I should have clarified that by "Marlies" I mean "players of value to the Marlies"

Must have been broken in-game. Says McDavid finished at 16:18 and Tavares 19:04.

Some good news: The Habs won at least. 2 in a row for them now.

Good to see Arcobello up (instead of any other Marlie center).

Clips of him in the AHL was like watching highlights from the early 80s. Skate over the line, fire a wrister, watch the mesh dance.

Nothing could symbolize those lines as well as that pic you posted. Well done, sir, well done!  :D
