Thank you Carolina! Now I can actually cheer for the Leafs for one last game this season without any conflicting feelings.

And hello top 5 pick!

I agree.  The game against Montreal is going to be fun cheering the Leafs to win.  I am looking forward to it.

Drafting at 4th in the so called deepest draft in years is pretty damn sweet after the suffering us fans have taken the past few years. Let's hope the Leafs get the pick right this year, and next year get another top 4. It's time for the tide to start turning for this team. Let's hope we have a Penguins rebuild and not an Oilers one.

Now that we secured 4th, lets hope we don't get bumped to 5th. But, if we do, at least we will get what is left from Strome/Marner, which isn't such a bad consolation prize.
Nonis better not draft Crouse. He is projected to be a bottom 6 forward with "top 6 potential".

I do NOT WANT Crouse. I think CSS did this on purpose to sucker the leafs into taking him. There are at least 10 other players better than L'ouse.

Only way it would be better is if it was Ottawa.  :D

Careful....some take offense to your logic.

It's hard to imagine, if this draft is so deep, why Crouse would go in the top 5, if his projected ceiling is a 'top 6' forward. That certainly raises doubts as to whether he would ever be better than a 2nd line center. I know these are merely projections, but still. It just seems odd to me. Isn't the top 5 generally reserved for players projected to be 1st liners? At least for a draft as deep as this one, no?

Yeah I don't think anyone should worry about the Leafs taking Crouse, he is more in the 10-12 spot in the draft at best.

Exactly. But, my fears are there. Especially with Nonis being a fan of Crouse in the worlds. Makes me nervous. Nonis just has to go.

I was thinking mid 20's. I watched this kid play a lot and he is "Gauthier" esque which isn't really all that special. I mean they have Crouse rated several spots ahead of Svechnikov for crap sakes! It doesn't make sense. How is Crouse better than Werenski, Provorov, Barzal, Zacha and the other top 15? I just don't see it.

My biggest fear right now is Nonis keeps his job, goes to mic at the draft and says "And the Toronto Maple Leafs are proud to select Lawson Crouse".

Anyone else thinking about this? Leafs are in 4th spot, Crouse is rated by CSS at the 5 spot. FFS, if we get bumped to 5 and select Crouse, I just have to start cheering for someone else. I am 52. Gotta back a winner sooner or later.

I am also worried that the core will be in place at training camp with Nonis saying "We just couldn't find the right fit."

Regardless of whether or not he's employed by the team you're kidding yourself if you think it will be Nonis making the final call on who gets taken in the draft. This is Shanahan's team now. If the Leafs make a selection you disagree with, that's on him.

I would say that whether or not Shanahan makers the draft decision, the selection the Leafs make will indeed be on him. The honeymoon is over for Mr. Shanahan. The training wheels are off and he will be called to account from here on in for the development of this team and its results.

Gordie Howe hat trick. 1) Casey Bailey first goal 2) Colton Orr's last fight 3) Leafs assist Habs in losing division title to Bolts.
