The 2013-2014 Toronto Raptors thread: A 'Drake' New World

Was looking at playoff tickets earlier today and holy crap have they ever jackked up prices. A seat that was $145 during the season is now $490 for Round 1. I get paying higher prices in the playoffs but not 337% more. I would maybe expect those prices during the NBA Finals but not Round 1. Guess I won't be going to the ACC anytime this post-season

Gotta make up that missed Leafs playoff revenue somehow, I guess.

Face Value?

I just looked it up and i saw "Side Prime" tickets on ticket master for $399, for "Super Premium" games during the regular season, they were $324.

That price was face value for the games I was looking at.

Getting pumped to watch some Raptors playoffs games.

A lot of people like Brooklyn to take the series, but I actually think they made a mistake in tanking to face the Raps. Yes, the Nets are very experienced, but Johnson, Pierce and Garnett are 32, 36 and 37 respectively. Lopez is their biggest weapon, but we have Valaciunas to match up against him. I don't think the Nets stack up terribly well against the Raptors.

I'm pretty sure Lopez is still out with his foot injury, for what it's worth.

Ah. I new he was out for the regular season. Don't know why I assumed he'd be back for the playoffs.

Even better.

Also, Garnett has to look at Hansbrough's ugly mug for the series. I'm sure he's looking forward to that.

I've always been a marginal Raptors fan, but this team has me hooked. I hope they smash the Nets and shut the U.S. media who are making it seem like Brooklyn has a bye into the 2nd round.

What an atmosphere!    Glad to see the Raps get fan support and then some.  That Ujiri is some fellow!  Hey, really though, who cares about some "dinosaurs", eh Mr. Garnett?!  :D

The GM really embarrassed himself today, this is Tim L's blueprint for success at MLSE?

Strange.

I know I'm talking from both sides of my mouth on this one, but had Burke said something like this during his tenure, I would have thought he was just being his typical bombastic self that loves the attention and he should just shut his trap.  Yet for Masai to say this, I thought it was genuine emotion coming through at the spur of the moment.  I felt a sense of pride towards the team and I think the adopted motto for this series by the team and fans should be the exact works Masai uttered.

Nah, I'm with Amir on this one:

I'm with Amir on that one too- even if it is a little bit of sucking up to your GM :)

I have to say, I don't like KG all that much- especially since he's been punking the Raps for a long time (especially Primo-Pasta and Calderon).  But this is all class, so I give credit where credit is due:

Raptors fans serenaded Garnett with a "KG sucks!" chant throughout the game. And Garnett and teammate Paul Pierce were featured on a Toronto Sun cover with the headline "RAPTORS VS. DINOSAURS."

"It's all good," Garnett said. "It's not our first time. I've been here before. I've read this book before. So it's nothing new. I love the Toronto fans. They're passionate. They love the Raptors and that's what up."

And the Raps hold off Brooklyn 100-95 to tie the series. Good. :)

Bravo!  :)
Thanks to DeRozan's "heroics":

Both games so far, the Nets have no answer for Jonas Valaciunas. No one has effectively guarded him, and he's killing them on the glass.

After the game, Pierce called his team 'soft' in terms of defense and rebounding. Pierce went 2/11. A semi-decent shooting night from the Truth would have completely changed the game.

Couldn't you say the same about Derozan in game 1?

I think that goes without saying. Though there are a coule differences. Game 1 was DeRozan's first playoff game ever. Game 2 was Pierce's 138th. And, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember DeRozan blaming anyone after the loss.
