After the game, Pierce called his team 'soft' in terms of defense and rebounding. Pierce went 2/11. A semi-decent shooting night from the Truth would have completely changed the game.

Couldn't you say the same about Derozan in game 1?
I think that goes without saying. Though there are a coule differences. Game 1 was DeRozan's first playoff game ever. Game 2 was Pierce's 138th. And, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember DeRozan blaming anyone after the loss.

Ohhh I get where you're going with that now - more of a, 'Pierce should have shot better if he's going to call out his teammates' than a 'Raps got fortunate Pierce shot poorly' which is how I read it originally.

Both games so far, the Nets have no answer for Jonas Valaciunas. No one has effectively guarded him, and he's killing them on the glass.

In fairness, I don't think he's exempting himself from criticism there. He was as soft as anyone last night and I'd wager he knows it.

You might be right, but I've never liked Paul Pierce so I'm happy with my interpretation of his comments.

Hey, like I said, I'm with Masai here. Fudge 'em.

The Pacers are a disaster right now.  The winner of the Raps-Nets series might not have to face Miami in the 2nd round (I'm assuming Washington finishes off Chicago)

It's really remarkable what's happened to them. I'm sure there are people inclined to chalk it up entirely to the Granger-Turner trade but George and Hibbert have been terrible too.

There is no re-seeding in the NBA, so the winner of the Raps-Nets gets Miami regardless.

Brooklyn 102  Toronto 98.  Nets lead series 2 games to 1.

Too little, too late.  As in the Raptors late rally.  Try as they might, the Raptors played a more aggressive game, coming to within a point back with just 34 seconds remaining.  Toronto's Patterson had the perfect opportunity to tie the game but missed the two free throws.

22 fouls were called in the fourth quarter alone.  The game was physical enough that resulted in the Raptors Kyle Lowry getting a sore knee and a bleeding lip.  Landry Fields also seemed to have injured himself trying to go after an eventual out-of-bounds ball.

Questionable refereeing left the Raptors seething towards the near end of the game, as Vasquez fouled the Nets Williams.

Generally, turnovers played a large part in the loss for Toronto, having given up 15 or so points there, and falling too far behind Brooklyn on the scoreboard before finally mounting a comeback.

Watching KG push guys and get away with it, set moving screens on every single play.  Watching Pierce get 5 steps with no travel calls.  It's really hard to watch.

The Raptors deserved to lose yesterday.  They focused too much on isolation and couldn't handle the Nets pressure screens on Lowry (playing hurt).  They couldn't get the ball inside and this was especially a game where the Raptors should have hurt the Nets as Garnett and Plumlee were both playing with foul trouble.

They also struggled to hit some open 3-point shots so if they shoot like they are capable of, they easily could have won this game.

The Vasquez call was terrible.  Williams jumped into Vasquez and got the call.  Then the Ref gave a quick technical foul just because.

Am I the only one who feels that Donald Sterling was framed by his girl friend? If so, why would she throw him under the bus like that? Who recorded the conversation?

His comments were insane and he shouldn't even own a basketball team with a such a view of African Americans.

His comments were insane - period. Lebron was being generous when he said there was no place in the NBA for this. There is no place for it anywhere.

Seems like he found the perfect match. Who needs eHarmony with magic like that! ;)

What do you mean by framed? Because he almost certainly said those things.

It's really not surprising either.  He messed around with Elgin Baylor.  He had issues with Baron Davis.  He has several housing properties where he was in trouble for racist behaviours.  And then he says stuff like that.  People who aren't racist don't make those kinds of statements.

By framed I mean, he was asked leading questions...almost as if she wanted this to get out.

Big news conference at 2pm EST. Commissioner Adam Silver to address the Sterling issue. All major sports networks streaming it live.

‏@WojYahooNBA

The NBA will ban Donald Sterling for life, source tells Yahoo Sports.

And that is confirmed by the commissioner.

Which means...

@CBCAlerts

NBA commissioner suspends #DonaldSterling for life from NBA. Can't attend games, practices, can't be in Clipper facilities.

Also urges board of governors to force sale of team.
