The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Jays are falling back into the "no homers, no offence" mode that was a big part of their struggles. Their margin for error now is basically zero.

This team always seems to find a way to make you think they are still in it, then they yank it away again.

Down by four, they scored three in the 8th and one in the 9th to tie the game, only to lose in the 10th after the bullpen (Morrow) couldn't get it done.

Not sure why Rasmus got the start - he showed why he has been on the bench lately - 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts.

Agreed. They have four tough series left - .500 would be a challenge normally, but now it won't be close to good enough.

Yeah. They basically have to win every game they have left to have a real shot. They can afford to lose 1, maybe 2 games, but that's it.

Right now the Jays just have too many guys in their line-up that really haven't shown they're major league hitters, even bottom of the order major league hitters at defense first positions. Gose, Kawasaki, Pillar and Goins really shouldn't be getting at bats for a contending team.

Another loss sends the Jays to 5 games back. According to the radio, 3-16 with runners in scoring position pretty much summarizes this team's season in clutch situations. Colby with a pinch hit strikeout against a lefty underlining the lack of right handed bats off the bench. As a side note, I found it hilarious listening to Greg Brady this morning trying to criticize Gibbons for using Colby instead of Francisco (yes, I am listening to the morning show again - having two idiots argue is much more entertaining than when Brady used to pick on Lang, who had no defense).

One more win tonight and the O's clinch.

I hope they enjoy watching the O's celebrate the division pennant in front of them. Use it as fuel.

Six losses in a row. Pretty sad. Looks like they take care of business against the poor teams but don't have an answer for the good ones. They are in 3rd place in the division and could fall as far as 4th by the time things are all done. A very disappointing finish after a strong May.

I echo same.  This team sings the same old tune when it counts the most.
Goes to show just how good a team are (*sic*) when they do well against teams below them and terrible against the better ones.

Sigh.  One continually frustrated fan!  😬

When you have Gose, Goins, Kawasaki and Pilar rounding out the bottom half of your batting order, I'm not quite sure why people expect better results.

That's precisely why it's so frustrating!

Jays have been mathematically eliminated after KC's win last night. Jays pounded Felix Hernandez and the Mariners 10-2, if that means anything.

Oh, it probably means they can beat the best when they want to, and can't be bothered to be consistent when it counts the most in a season.  Really. Nice.  Those are our Flew Jays.

Or, and bear with me here, it has nothing to do with what they "want" and more to do with the fact that the variability of even the best pitchers is so great on any given day that even the worst team in the league, which the Jays aren't, could rough up a good pitcher on an off-day.

I love Joey Bats!

The Kansas City Royals made no trades at the non waiver deadline. The Oakland A's made two huge trades. Does @JoeyBats19 know about this?

It appears as though Kevin Seitzer is set to the leave the Jays for the Braves, leaving the Jays looking for their 3rd hitting coach in 3 years.
