Well, I'm on the upswing of a bout with Norwalk virus. I think I just had the worst day of my life. Thankfully, it only lasts 24 - 48 hours. I was lying on the bathroom floor shaking and begging for sweet death.

I might even try to eat something today, like a freezer or popsicle.

Oooh, totally sympathize with you there.  Earlier this year, half my family ate at a japanese place called Ginza sushi for a quick lunch.  My parents, me and my eldest daughter.  By 10pm me and my daughter were throwing up non-stop.  I thought when I swore i would never binge drink again in my 20's,  i'd never go through this kind of stuff again.  Felt like i was hit by a bus.  Just when I thought it all came out, my stomache kept trying to squeeze every little bit out. It was so exhausting and caused muscle cramps.  Call my parents the next day, and they experienced the same thing.

When I was in Ireland on vacation recently, I got a good dose of Campylobacter from chicken I suspect.... lasted the better part of 2 weeks rather than 72 hrs. Lost 20 lbs....The 6 1/2 hour flight back home was not a pretty thing. I would have paid good money for Norwalk.... worst vacation EVER

Well doc said I should be admitted to emerged as nothing has worked so far. Hopefully they'll actually admit me. Merry Christmas indeed.

:-( hope you're better soon.

Thanks for the wishes. I was at the ER for 10hrs yesterday. Got a couple of face masks which didn't help a lot and saw a specialist who said I'm not bad enough to be admitted and basically the virus I had created an overactive reaction in my lungs that needs to clear up on its own which can take a long time. Referred to respirologist who will hopefully see me next week.

What I don't understand is how you don't admit someone who's had a problem that isn't improving much over time. Its kinda weird to me.

Well I was good for a few days but had an attack yesterday. Went back to the ER and had a face mask and prednisone IV drip (never had that before, felt strange). Had an awful night last night but things seem to be better this morning which is surprising as mornings are usually awful. Doc says it could be 8wks total to get this settled down, no magic bullet other than trying to control inflammation.

My lungs are in great shape though. Doc said my air test showed that my result was difficult for a non-sick person to hit so I guess that's good news (I'm full of hot air?)

Which leads me to my complaint: I am sick and tired of relatives telling me how I should act in the ER. One said basically to be hysterical so they admit me. Cry, break down, beg etc. Told me to fake my air test!!! It makes no sense to do that, plus its not like I know how to cheat it anyway! I'm doing all I can and micromanaging relatives are not helping when I should be getting support, not criticism! I told one I was in the ER again and they said "Why all you need to do is put my face under steam." What a silly answer!! I know they mean well but they aren't doctors and they don't know how it feels or what works for me. I wouldn't be in the ER unless its necessary.

Sorry for the rant, I just really am at the end of my tether.

That sucks Bender. Hopefully you'll get over all this soon.

I've had a terrible holidays so far. First the norovirus, then pink eye, now a cold. I have pink eye in both eyes now and can barely see at times, though it does seem to be clearing up a bit. Woke up this morning and it felt like someone had shoved and twisted a wire brush down my throat. My wife is feeling the same though the cold is hitting her worse. I think I'm getting depressed now. It's just one thing after the other. I really needed a break, bu can't even remotely enjoy it.

Why wont the leafs have a look at Ryan Gunderson in Bryn?s :-\ I think that he'd make the NHL, a very useful player, not big but smart, and great at moving the puck...remember Rafalski once played for Bryn?s ;) He (Gunderson) won the championships his first season with Bryn?s.

I was supposed to e-mail the organisation about this, couldn't find any good e-mail, turns out I e-mailed it to ACC Fan Services, not optimal but hey close enough ;)

So I am finally turning the corner on this thing. The cough is not nearly what it was a few weeks ago and my bronchi have decided to not be the mucous factory it once was so the wheezing is mostly gone. I still wake up with some congestion in my chest but I'm actually able to sleep without waking up every couple of hours coughing my brains out.

Doc said it'd probably be 2wks but its such a weird, nonlinear recovery that I wouldn't be surprised to be out another month, but I can finally see progress on this thing.

I'm so lucky my job has some form of medical coverage for this freak illness. Lesson for everyone: Buy health insurance if you don't have coverage!

Anyone else here using Firefox on Win7? I updated to Firefox 18 last night and have had nothing but issues with it. It's crashed often enough that I'm sick of sending crash reports, at least 25-30 times on me. I've done a full system scan for viruses and malware, reinstalled the program, and checked the stability of my plug-ins. Everything checks out fine so I'm at a loss on what to do next.

I saw that but this was happening on an older version of Java. Interestingly enough when I was looking for a solution, the first thing suggested was to ensure my plugins were all up to date. I updated my Java plugin after that.

I believe it applied to older versions and current versions (4 through 7).  I'm not sure about Windows 7, but on Mac OS X, Apple moved to block the plug in on Macs where it was already installed until Oracle provided a "fix"

Separately, I was reading some threads about how Firefox users realized that Java had been disabled after updating to version 18 and it still was disabled even though they were entirely up to date with the latest version of Java.

That "fix" was apparently issued today, but some people remain skeptical.

I got updated to Java 7 update 11 last night. Firefox is still crashing every time I go to close a tab or the program itself.

Firefox is still being a major pain in the rear end. I've gone through and done a full system scan, uninstalled and reinstalled Java (latest update) and even got the new Firefox update that I was prompted for today (v 18.0.1). It still crashes every time I try to close the program or more than 1 tab. Have lost count of how many crash reports I've sent in with my contact information included and still have not heard back. Can't think of anything else to try. Not a fan of IE and didn't like Chrome last time I tried it.
