The Official TFC/Soccer thread

Anyone watch the Newcastle / Hull City game this morning? Newcastle's gaffer Alan Pardew was sent to the stands after headbutting Hull's David Meyler in a touchline altercation. Makes yelling at a dressing room door seem pretty trivial!

Yea, saw that. I never had much time for Pardew, he's lucky that Meyler didn't hit him a clip. Won't be surprised if he gets suspended the rest of the season.

TFC wins season-opener 2-I against the Sounders in Seattle.

Nice win for the Reds as their newly-acquired stars, Dafoe & Bradley shone.  Dafoe had both goals.

Good team effort.

Get me a red scarf! I said Defoe will score buckets of goals and by god he's going to score buckets of goals. TFC = MLS Title threat

Defoe would still be able to contribute to a mid to lower end English Premier League side and has been contributing ok on a top end side all be it as a substitute.

He's probably playing more effectively than Beckham was when he went to MLS

Still a great poacher though..he doesn't pass and plays a bit selfish...honestly he's exactly what TFC needed in the worst way! He's going to score buckets of goals

This was after Canada won gold in Men's Olympic hockey in Sochi...

Real Madrid's Ronaldo ties Messi's Champions League record of 14 goals, leading Real Madrid to a 3-0 shellacking of Borussia Dortmund, and a trip to the League semi-finals.

There is the 2nd leg of the quarter final to go, Dortmund is in a tough spot, but they aren't eliminated yet.

Bradley leads the TFC enroute to a 2-O road win over the Columbus Crew...

TFC coach Ryan Nelsen says he was not surprised by Bradley?s effort.

?That?s Michael,? he said. ?He has this willingness to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. It?s instinctive.

TFC goalkeeper Julio Cesar had critical stops on Bernardo Anor and Tony Tchani in the second half when it was 1-0 to
preserve the lead against the Crew (3-1-0) before a crowd of
12,045.

?I attribute this loss to two things, a bad start to the game and to a very well organized Toronto FC,? Crew coach Gregg
Berhalter said.

Way to go, TFC!

Columbus has traditionally been a place where TFC has struggled. After last week's game at Real Salt Lake, this was a nice bounceback. Even more so when you consider that they were missing 4 starters, including Jermaine Defoe. It was nice to see some of the depth of the squad shine through as they will be needed later in the summer when at least 3 players could be at the World Cup and you get some fixture congestion with the Voyageurs Cup.

I know it's early but Bradley sure has came as advertised so far. Great start so far for TFC. Got tickets to see the TFC / Impact game in August - mad for it!

That second leg is just a formality - Madrid hasn't been held to a clean sheet in CL play in almost 3 years, Dortmund has as much of a chance of scoring 4 as the Sens do at making the playoffs.
La Decima is looking pretty good their CL form has been at another level...Barca and Athletico are the only teams I'd give a chance to stopping them and one of them is gone after this round.

Yeah, Dortmund is 25/1 to advance, no chance really.

On another note, I don't think I've ever seen Manchester United been 14/1 to win a match before. I couldn't resist and threw a small bet down at those odds.

Especially nice to see them bounce back from their first defeat.  That to me was a huge test for the squad.

Bayern finally lost a Bundesliga match this weekend and could be starting to show some fatigue from all the football they've played over the past year. If Mata wasn't cup tied and RVP was up top instead of Wellbeck I'd really like United's chances...the partial stadium ban at Allianz helps United...what did you throw down? $100? You could very well have yourself a nice little payoff

I was planning on $25, then when I logged in to my account, I already had $25 that I didn't know about, so I still put an additional $25 and upped my potential winnings to $700.
