If a single guy gets dealt, he's not "uprooting his entire life" and a married guy getting dealt doesn't have to sell his house and be out in 15 minutes.

No but that married guy may not be able to yank his kids out of school and move them to a new city for weeks or months. He may wind up seeing very little of his wife and kids for weeks or months - until school ends, etc.

Saw an interview with a past LA King yesterday. He said when they traded Craig Conroy, who was the most popular guy on the club, it significantly upset the team - they weren't the same.

The Lindros trade circus in 2001 nearly took a decent  Leafs team out of qualifying for the playoffs.

We hear about team bonding during preseason. Either there's something to that or there isn't. I don't think one can have it both ways.

I think there's a reason why so many players try to haggle for a no trade/no movement/limited trade clause.

If it isn't a big deal to all players, why do some of these tough guys cry when they've been traded or hide from the media for days?

With over 50 trades between January and the deadline the previous three seasons and roughly 700 players in the league, roughly 10% of the league is on the move each season near the deadline. What would your work environment be like to work in if you and all those you worked with knew that 10% of the work force you were supposed to "bond with" would be instantly relocated to a city usually not of their own choice every year?

Some nomads wouldn't have a big problem with that life. Other individuals, no matter how much they're paid, would.

And with that, all of the married guys I know will ask their employers for a trade. Wokka wokka.

this is no longer about firing wilson ..it's become more important than that..it's about liberating the players who are so obviously being oppressed by this man that they only way they can communicate their desire to see him gone is to lose and lose by a lot ..no team could truly be this awful..this is on purpose..this isn't hockey...this is a cry for help

Season is done.  No sense in firing Wilson now.

Still sends a decent message. One that's probably better received in-season than when guys are golfing at the cottage.

okay so you don't like firing him ...well how about demoting him...he can run the marlies for the rest of the season ..so he can get some playoff experience ....and come back next year with a sense of what it's like to win

No other coach in the league would survive a 1-8-1 stretch when your team was in the playoff hunt.

Seriously, if I'm Tanenbaum I'd get Burke on the carpet for this crap.  "Well, Brian, do you want to fire Ron yourself, or do you want me to fire you first?"

I suppose.  I've always been of the mind that you draft where you draft and you shouldn't tank to get a better pick.  However, in this situation, it might be okay to go 2-18.

Never said don't fire him...I said no sense in doing it now...Please re-read what I posted...The offseason may contain more coaches to replace him with...hope you understand my position.

If the coach is the problem, and you fire him, a winning streak may happen.  At this point, if they are going to do anything, they might as well keep on losing.  Maybe they pick up one of those game changers they so desperately need.  Barring that, draft a goalie in every round.

The overwhelming idea on sportsnet right now from the panel is that Wilson has gotta go.
Picking up steam, I think he may actually get fired somehow.

Wishful thinking. Wilson could literally go crazy, brandishing a knife at ghosts and repeating nonsense phrases over and over in his nasal drawl, and Burke still wouldn't fire him.

This might actually get some results

I wonder of that shot of Burke on his phone during the game was him inquiring about available replacement coaches? :)

He wouldn't have to look far. Carlyle was probably the one who started the Wilson chant tonight.

Dear Mr Burke
Pleassssssse you gave him his Christmas gift. Now do the right
thing and give every fan of the Leafs, many as old or older than you,
a gift and fire Wilson.
If you cannot do it please walk with your friend out the door.
I cannot take it anymore. Blame it on whoever you want but you have
changed just about every player on the roster. And the ones you have
not changed you have chosen to keep . This is your team Mr Burke
why? why? why?
If Wilson is such a good coach he should have no problem finding
employment elsewhere.
