Training Camp Thread

Wouldn't anyone be worried with losing Marincin on waivers with Polak waiting in the wings?

I don't know about "worried" but I think that'd be a pretty poor use of our assets. And while I'm optimistic about Borgman/Rosen I still need to see a larger sample size than 2 or 3 pre-season games before I'd be comfortable saying they're 100% better than Marincin.

Marner and Marleau are getting reps on the PK at today's practice.

Both Borgman and Fehr had better camps.

The 4th line error is Martin in, not Fehr... should be:

Leivo - Matthews - Nylander
JVR - Bozak - Marner
Marleau - Kadri - Brown
Hyman - Fehr - Komarov
Moore/Martin

On D, or waive Marincin or demote Rosen.

I picked the wrong Swede to make it, but I'm more than okay with Borgman coming in.

Kristen Shilton surmises this might be the reason for Borgman > Ros?n (initially)

Essentially, Borgman offers a flavour of defense we did not have, whereas Ros?n is doubling down on what we have in spades.

Also of note: Marincin made it!

I love that I read that Babcock quote with Babcock's voice in my head.

I am glad Rosen is on the Marlies and will play meaningful minutes. I also believe when there's an injury on D he will likely fill in over Marincin. Marincin can take Corrados permanent spot in the press box. It's almost meaningless to have press box players with the Marlies in the same town.

I too, read all Babcock quotes with Babcock's voice in my head. I also read Lou interviews with Lou's semi-drawn out drawl (and smirk), and Shanahan's quotes in his slow and thoughtful diction, and Dubas' with that excited sparkle that somehow makes it from his eyes to his voice.

In case you missed the Scott Wheeler piece on the defensemen vying for the opening day roster, he pointed to Borgman's instincts on this specific play. Borgman winds up for the clapper, but Stroman's the release to freeze the blocker and still slings it with gusto.

I'm now imagining what it'd be like if he got an open look and actually leaned into it.

Oh man guys. Remember when we had Pavel Kubina and it was just impossible to beat him for a puck?

No? Me neither.

Babcock says some really dumb things some times.

You guys can laugh but I'd like to refer you all to Hal Gill's 7 Norris Trophies and Nik Lidstrom's 0.
