Apparently, we can watch the practice live at 2pm. Livestream from MapleLeafs.com

Watching the beginning of the practice online. There are three goalies there. Who's the third one?

Edit: Asked and answered by Joe Bowen (Brandon Maxwell - only there to spell the other two)

Scrivens should be game ready between him and Reimer, it could be a challenge for Reimer to be a number 1 goalie.

Normally I wouldn't think too much of lines this early in training camp, but considering the opener is less than a week away I can't imagine Carlyle will want to spend too much time experimenting. With that said, here's what Siegel said the lines were today in practice:

Lombardi-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Connolly-JVR
Mac-Grabs-Kulemin
Kadri-Komarov-Frattin
Brown-McClement-Steckel-Orr

Not sure what was going on with that last group. A bunch of reporters were saying Brown/McClement and Steckel/Orr were paired together. I sure would like to see that whole Kadri trio in the NHL, but I wouldn't be opposed if they and Orr were the odd guys out.

What happened to the JVR at center experiment?

I believe it was on Monday or TUesday Carlyle said that there is no need to do such experiments and that he will play his traditional position.

Carlyle said a month or two ago that that got blown way out of proportion and that it was never set in stone. With this being a short training camp/season now probably wouldn't be the best time to force somebody to learn a new position either.

I say that the young guys (Frattin and Kadri) have to get a chance. Lombardi and Connolly have to go, wherever.

If they can't earn a spot lombardi and connolly should be traded for draft picks.

Agreed but maybe the deadline would be a better time to do that... A) We might get a better return and B) I expect a lot of injuries what with playing more than 3 games per week and all... It might be better to keep some bodies around.

If you can get a pick for both or either, take it IMO.

That's my thinking as well. If either or both of them can put together decent seasons, they could be valuable trade chips at the deadline. I mean, even worst case scenario, they're not going to lose much value from where they are now. The Leafs won't get much for them now and don't need the cap space. If that means Kadri or someone else spends a few more months in the AHL, so be it. No reason to hand the younger guys a spot either. If they can't prove they'll clearly be better than the vets, then they wait until the vets get moved.

I get what you're saying, but I don't have much confidence in Connolly being much better. He'd have to dazzle in camp for me to hold on to him. Lombardi has a chance to be better simply because of another off-season to "heal", but I don't hold out much hope for him returning to the old Lombardi either.

Mentioned Kessel as "slowest skater" as per twitter observations.  Uh oh, is that normal or does that mean his conditioning's off?

We've seen more than a few stretches over the season where he looks tired.

Which is a shame, because when he get going, he can fly.

This might be a weird question, as I haven't heard anything about it anywhere...but will there be any pre-season games?
