Speaking of Komarov, he is another pick from the 2006 draft that has a chance of being an NHLer this year.

JFJ made 7 picks (Tlusty, Kulemin, Stalberg, Reimer, Holzer, Komarov, Ruegsegger) that year and only 1 has no chance of being in the NHL this season, Ruegsegger.

Had he only selected Giroux instead of Tlusty I'd take back every negative comment I ever made about him as Leafs GM.

No you wouldn't... ;) because the Leafs would have traded him by now...

I predict with this lineup, the leafs to be out of playoff picture within 15 games.

lol.. ok... no scoring, d sucks, coach is crap and should be fired. goaltending sucks. this must be your thoughts.

well how about you go take that neg attatude and go watch and hang out with another team. am sure we wont miss you when we make the post season.
Not like putting words into my mouth, lol.
Our goaltending sucks, our D is ok but our forwards are below average with a couple exceptions. I like Carlyle, I was actually in his hockey school years back with him and Foligno and am a fan of his. We missed the playoffs by a large margin last year and I have seen no significant upgrades. Lupol and Kessel started losing there magic in the last third of last season as well. I'm frustrated that its a new season with practically the same lineup. Sorry if you disagree with my opinion but last I checked this is a forum OF opinions.

One question? on scoring, where did the Leafs finish? oh ya 10th in NHL, and 6th in confrence. hmm.. you say thats below average, ok... our goal is in the air and am sure will be much improved with a healthy Riemer. our coach will have the d playing 100% better. I dont see doom and gloom  as you do. I think we will be in the mix. not shooting you down dude just letting you know its not as bad as you thought.
So I guess the scoring is strictly a forward matter where as defence is only expected from the D? There's more to being a forward then just scoring.

Trading Rask is unforgivable. Unforgivable I say!

We dont want to break Reilly the same way we did with Schenn by rushing him. He will play his 5 games and go back to junior. IMO

If he is not ready, then he should be sent back.  If they are unsure if he is ready, then he should play 5 games and then a decision should be made on those 5 games.  Giving him 5 games even if he isn't ready would be silly in my mind.

I don't think Morgan Reilly is NHL-ready yet.  Another year of junior would do well.  He can probably play a few games with the big club, be evaluated while doing so (this will ultimately decide whether he should stay or be sent back to junior).

The fact that there will be no exhibition games will raise the stakes much higher for any young draftee in a Leafs uniform, especially for a raw rookie.  Good luck to Reilly!

Especially if the goalie JFJ opted for is now playing Italian Hockey League, world wide known as attracting the prime talent  8)

This is no doubt one of the worst trades ever, as Bullfrog said unforgivable.

This will go down in Leaf infamy!  A big thanks (*sic*) to JFJ.  8)

Today's lines - this is what I was hoping to see:

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
MacArthur-Grabo-Kulie
Jvr-Kadri-Komarov
Brown-McClement-Orr
Steckel-Frattin

I thought Frattin would get a closer look.

I think the problem is that there isn't really a spot available for him that maximizes his usefulness. I mean, the top 2 lines have a history of success, so, they're not going to be broken up at this point. So, do you put Frattin on the 3rd line instead of Komarov? Maybe, but, is that the best place for him? I'm not so sure.

I understand, but if they are saying the third line is going to consist of Kadri and JVR, then I'd give him a look as it's going to be more offence based than in previous years.

I like Komarov too, perhaps they want him to be the defensive conscience of that line, but I think I prefer Frattin there and Komarov on the 4th.

I like MacArthur and all but, given the way this lineup is shaping up, Frattin has to get a chance to perform in his spot.  I really like the look of that third line, though.

Connolly being dealt with? My plan is coming together perfectly, BUHA hahahahahaha. *rubs hand together*

Or, he could just have that flu that's going around!  :)

Well, then how do you fit in Brown and Steckel? I mean, the team isn't going to scratch one of the best faceoff guys in the league in Steckel, and Brown is one of the team's best forecheckers. It's a tough spot for the team to be in, but, at least it's a good kind of tough spot.

Busta wins again.

@DarrenDreger

Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice. It's expected Connolly will be placed on waivers. More opportunity for players in system.
