They own half of it right now.

Who has the other half?

I know that's all they committed to but I'd be very surprised if it played out like that. Shutting the CBC out of hockey broadcasting would be a pretty unpopular move for a company that has reason to try and remain in the government's good graces.
Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:That's what I think too. The Rogers guy said they hoped to continue the partnership. And, if they were going to 86 the CBC, why not do it at the start of the deal? I think the optics of keeping CBC involved outweigh the problems. And Rogers gets all the ad revenue. CBC gets ... the ability to promote its other shows. :
Nik the Trik said:I suspect CBC will always be involved in some capacity, even if it's just a steady diet of Senators/Jets games on Saturday Nights.

TSN will retain regional rights for Jets games on weeknights other than Wednesday.

I read also that they would retain regional rights for Leafs games as well:
Starting next season, the deal leaves TSN with two NHL properties: 26 regional Toronto Maple Leafs games and the regional Winnipeg Jets package.
