If JPA strikes out again with a runner on third, one out, for the fourth time, Gibbons should be fired on the spot.

Why not the hitting coach if they're going to do silly things like fire someone?
I don't think anything would be silly at this point considering the expectation surrounding this team. Fire them both... anything to shake things up.

Don't see a new manager making the D not make errors on routine plays or getting better starting pitching or avoiding injuries.
I would like to see an attempt to shake things up just for the sake of doing something in attempt to stimulate this team whether its a trade or a firing. Obviously the team is not operating cohesively.

Yeah. It's the support staff that really needs to be held accountable right now. They can't do much about most of the injuries, but, the rest of the stuff, with the talent on this roster, should be able to be improved upon.

Rasmus, for what it's worth, has a higher WAR according to fangraphs than anyone in the lineup other than Bautista and at BR is only behind Bautista and Lind. He's definitely not the problem.

But there not the worst two which, unfortunately is part of the problem. Ideally they would be.

Sure, but, what Potvin and I are getting at is that neither of them are really part of the problem. It's the rest of the lineup not named Bautista, Cabrera, Encarnacion and Lind that have been. And, the pitching and defence. Kawasaki and Rasmus are not the guys the Jays need to be looking at upgrading on right now.
I realize that their not going to upgrade the whole bottom five in their lineup.

John Gibbons has apparently made the AL All Star team as a coach.

What's that line between a thing being so funny it's tragic and so tragic it's funny called?

They probably like him there because he's a fun guy, and the only manager who can shotgun six beers in under a minute

Considering how bad (injured: built in excuse) the starting pitching has been, offense overall is really the last thing to be overly concerned about with this team, at least in the grand scheme of what isn't going well right now.

Well, that's part of what makes Rasmus valuable. His good WAR is in significant part due to his good defensive metrics.

After this upcoming Rockies series the Jays play vs. Baltimore, at Tampa, and at Boston. There isn't a better way to get back to .500 than against your division rivals. 12-8 over their next 20 will get the job done. Seems do-able.

According to TSN, the Blue Jays own the second best record since May (18-12) and a. 600 winning percentage, out of a list of three teams -- Oakland As, the Jays, the Red Sox.

Very good.  The Jays are already at 32-36 (including this weekend's sweep of the Texas Rangers) and if they can continue their winning ways with some Jays sporting red-hot numbers (yes, Adam Lind), it shouldn't be long before for them to climb up the AL East ladder and/or firmly securing their wildcard position.

GO JAYS GO!

Jays are starting to climb back into things. 8.5 back of the division, 5.5 back of the wild card. They will need to start hopping over divisional opponents next.

Adam Lind has been pretty incredible - his average is now up to .350 with another three hits yesterday. I was pretty down on him early in the season, but he seems to have it back together. Hopefully he stays that way (and healthy!).

Yup, it's encouraging.

They have been hitting everything lately and with Reyes back soon it's going to get even better.  Now that the SP's have started to finally put up some solid performances, things are looking up.

As good as the record has been recently, they need to go on a big run here to get back in the hunt.

Anyone heard an ETA on Reyes? They keep showing him out in the field running, etc.. seems like it's been weeks.
