2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

This game should of been blowout for the Jays. Probably going to end up abusing the bullpen again in a 15 inning loss.

Izturis, Arencibia, Bonifacio, who else?  Reyes coming back in 2-3 weeks or so will knock one of those out.

Lawrie, when he's healthy. Of the 4, though, he's the one I think could turn things around.

Ah, wasn't really considering him a regular this season because he's had so few games, and also taking into account he had no spring training.  He's one we can at least assume will rise.

Just hate on Arencibia.  He's TERRIBLE.  .238 OBP.

The Jays have 4 regulars with OBPs well below .300. That's just completely unacceptable.

Kawasaki, Rasmus 90% of the time, I wouldn't giveup on Rasmus just yet though.

To be fair to Arencibia he's hitting well enough to have a marginally positive oWAR.

Is oWar different than this WAR?

I have know idea what an oWAR is but I do know Arencibia sucks. It's hard not to at least put some of the teams pitching woes on him as well.

Yeah. oWAR is just about offense. That there is his total WAR which is 0.1 at both fangraphs and BR.

He's played in 37 games so far - more than half the season - and had more PAs than Kawasaki coming into tonight's game. He's hurt, but he's still a regular. I agree with the rest, though.

Kawasaki has a .331 OBP.

Rasmus hasn't been awful, either, even though he hasn't been great. If these two were the worst regulars the Jays had, they'd be in very good shape.

I really wish we had got to see how the first half shook out with Reyes in the lineup.  He was hot to start the season too, and him setting the table would have been so, so much better.

If JPA strikes out again with a runner on third, one out, for the fourth time, Gibbons should be fired on the spot.

Why not the hitting coach if they're going to do silly things like fire someone?
I don't think anything would be silly at this point considering the expectation surrounding this team. Fire them both... anything to shake things up.

Don't see a new manager making the D not make errors on routine plays or getting better starting pitching or avoiding injuries.

But there not the worst two which, unfortunately is part of the problem. Ideally they would be.

Sure, but, what Potvin and I are getting at is that neither of them are really part of the problem. It's the rest of the lineup not named Bautista, Cabrera, Encarnacion and Lind that have been. And, the pitching and defence. Kawasaki and Rasmus are not the guys the Jays need to be looking at upgrading on right now.
