2017 Off-season Trades/Signings Discussion

Unconfirmed, but MLHS is reporting the Leafs will be signing Dominic Moore.

Obviously one half has already been confirmed. AP has had good info from this source before.

Why no dollars out on Hainsey? This makes me nervous both on term and money....

And Boyle would have been a good signing at those dollars as it was a
2 year deal only.

The term on Hainsey has been reported at 2 years.

And now $3 mil per year

Shattenkirk 4 years x $6.65

To the Rangers. That's a pretty solid contract.

Yeah, Shattenkirk is taking a huge pay cut over traditional UFA prices.  It seems certain that someone else offered a greater AAV for 7 years.

Bob McKenzie‏ @TSNBobMcKenzie
NYR were in on Marleau/Thornton but out on both now that Shattenkirk has signed in NY.

Thought that Thornton would have been a really good fit in New York, especially with Stepan gone. He and Nash would have been really good together I think. They played together in Switzerland during both lockouts.

But apparently that's LA and now New York that's out on Thornton.

Some chatter out there that the Leafs might sign Dominic Moore. I would be cool with that for 4th line centre until The Goat is ready. Good on face-offs, smart, sound defensively. Played well last time here, though that was a while ago. Boston got good mileage out of him last year. Price would be right.

As long as he gets paid like a 4th liner (under $1mil) I'd be fine with that. They could probably do better than him, but as far as Babcock-style 4th liners go you could also do a lot worse.

So with Bonino off to Nashville, any chance there's a potential trading partner with Pittsburgh for Bozak?

Well, so far our Leafs Navigators have taken us on a big, fat cruise on the S.S. Underwhelming.

I've heard it has much better travel accommodations than the Overpayment Express

TSN oddly took about 15 minutes to mention that Thornton report. They weren't really talking about anything noteworthy in the meantime.
