The hapless and sad sack Baltimore Orioles (28-69) come visit the Rogers Centre in a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays (43-52).

The Os are 41 games, yes, 41 games below .500.  For all practicality, they are baseball's worst team.  And counting.

The Jays, well, we all know where they stand, mired in that fourth spot or to phrase it succinctly, second-last in the division.

The All-Star Game Tuesday marked the halfway point in the season for all teams, and while the Orioles and Jays fans know a playoff spot is in fantasy mode, and also closer to the trade deadline (July 31).  It's anyone's guess what moves the Jays management is keen on and just how this so-called rebuild plan will transpire.

Hey, it's still summer, so let's enjoy whatever wins the Jays put up.

LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!

The Blue Jays managed a 10th inning win last night 8-7 over the Orioles, thanks to Aledmys Diaz's RBI single.

Diaz, Martin, and Grichuk each hit solo home runs in a game that saw the Jays squander a 5-2 lead.

Jays starter Sam Gaviglio pitched brilliantly all the way to the eighth inning having struck out eight in the process.  The Jays bullpen collapsed as the Orioles tied it all up by the ninth inning.  Sigh.  Sloppy team defence was also a factor.

Ryan Tepera got the save and John Axford the win.

Nice work by Jays starter Marcus Stroman in the Jays 4-1 win over the Orioles.  Stroman pitched seven innings, striking out seven and earning the win.

Reliever Ryan Tepera got the save.

Happ certainly stopped his value drop today which is good news on the trade deadline front.  With Donaldson looking like a best a waiver trade candidate, Estrada and Pillar hurt, Happ is our best piece.

The Minnesota Twins (44-53) come to town in a tbree-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays (46-52).

The Twins are currently second in the A.L. Central, 9.5GBL Cleveland Indians snd 14 GB of the WC spot.

The Blue Jsys are coming off a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles, a series that at times saw the Jays struggle bit against the sad sack Os.  The importsnt thing is that they won and sent the faithful home happy.

Sure feels good to cheer for some victories.  At least the Blue Jays can still aim for some respectability in this sorry season.

No doubt there that Happ is our best tradeable piece indeed.

According to rumours, the Yankees remain very interested in the Jays' ace.  Our return could very well be a guy like Clint Frazier.

Yankee fans think their management would be delusionsl in the possibilty of acquiring the vetersn Happ for yhe youngster Frazier.
Delusional or not,  Frazier can definitely be the gem the Jays could get.  They are very interested here ss he's still available.

This new wave of management has been awful. Not only did they do nothing to remain competitive they have managed to recoup nothing with all out going assets. This is a big market team which the fans have proven through viewership and attendance, let?s act like it. The fan isn?t stupid, we?re not supporting a team that isn?t rebuilding  or competing.

The Blue Jays (46-55) come to Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago for a three-game series against the White Sox (36-66).

Both teams are near cellar-dwellers in their respective divisions thoigh the Blue Jays do sport a better w/l record than the lowly Chisox.

The White Sox are 19.5 GBL Cleveland Indians in the A.L. Central, mwhile the Blue Jays  are 23.5 GBL Boston in the A.L. East.  Though at first glance the Chisox seem to be fewer games behind than the Jays in comparing the two, it is a misnomer due to fiercer and superior opponents the likes of the Red Sox & the Yankees in the A.L. East versus teams such as the Indiana & the Twins in the A.L. Central.
It also shows the Jays being the better team of the two.

There is a possibility of starting pitcher Marco Estrada making his return to the mound in Sunday's finale.  Good to see him back.

The return on Happ is pretty disappointing especially when trading within the division.  I?m not sure how much more value he really held but getting a Solarte as best case infielder when we have 3-4 infielders pushing upward through the system seems disappointing.  Would have liked to have seen a pitching prospect involved in a few of these trades.

Yeah. I liked the Oh trade - getting a couple interesting prospects for a relief pitcher is a good haul - but the Happ trade is disappointing. Drury doesn't seem like he's going to amount to much, and the Jays are McKinney's 4th organization - which generally isn't a good sign for a player who only has 2 games MLB experience.

The return for Happ wasn't great but we do need to be a little honest about what went down there. The Jays traded a 36 year old pending free agent having an ok year who's shown signs of flagging down the stretch. The return on him was never going to be a big deal.

Donaldson is going to walk. MVP asset squandered. This management is so indecisive they thought they owed the fans to stay competitive by doing... nothing? Huh?

Considering how his season has gone, there's a very real chance that Donaldson accepts his qualifying offer and tries to rebuild his value next season.

What would this qualifying offer look like?

I don't really get the general beef there but with regards to Donaldson specifically I don't think they could have guessed he'd be hurt all year.
