Yeah I don?t really get it other than financial reward.  Sabourin isn?t an NHL player especially on this roster

I think (hope?) people are reading too much into this happening right as Simmonds goes down.

What's the ETA for Thornton/Robertson?
Robertson went on LTIR Jan 21. I think Thornton went a day or two later so we're still looking at two weeks.

Robertson is actually eligible to come off after tonight's game, is it will be the 10 game he's missed as a result of his injury. Thornton won't be eligible to come back until the Feb 15th game against the Habs.

Did they change the rules for this year because of the condensed schedule? Asking because everywhere I've read states 24 calendar days AND 10 games.

Maybe 11F, 7D?

Seems like a good guess.

edit: Although you would think even in the event of 11F they would want whoever Tavares/Nylander's regular partner will be to get a practice in with them.

Huh. I swear it said 'or' every other time I read it.

In that case, they should both be available for the game on the 15th.

Honestly, same. This is like the Berenstain Bears all over again.

Robertson can still come off Wednesday. He was placed on LTIR on the 21st but any games/days he missed before that get retroactively counted. Tonight is the 10th game, tomorrow is the 24th day. Although the fact that Thornton was skating in that spot and not Robertson could mean he isn't fully recovered yet.

Full injury updates from Keefe today:

-Simmonds out at least 6 weeks with a broken wrist
-Thornton and Robertson making progress but not expected back this week
-Campbell hasn't begun skating yet, so he's not considered close to returning
-Dermott could be back Wednesday

Well I'm glad I'm not losing my mind ...yet. Hopefully Robertson is back next week.

There honestly isn't much to overthink here and it was entirely expected once the Canadian Division looked like it might become reality: Vancouver has 3.5 4th lines, Edmonton sucks when McDavid/Draisaitl are sitting, Calgary is meh and worse without Brodie, Montreal is well coached but lacks scoring pop over time, Winnipeg has no backend support in personnel or playstyle, Ottawa is hahahahaha. The only way the Leafs truly struggle on the wins and losses would be significant injuries.

That being said, I'd really like them to start stomping the competition more convincingly and consistently, rather than turning up the play for the last 10 minutes. Like, I want us to be confident playing Hutchinson.

I would like to see depth players get more ice time and start to take on a more meaningful role. 20+ minutes for our young guns might be a bit too much?
