Reducing the carbon footprint will soon overrule all these other considerations.  291k fewer airmiles is plenty of carbon averted.

You're a more optimistic man than I am if you think we're near a point where that will trump profitability for NHL owners.

It won't, but it will be dictated to them by government.

Ah. Then you're much, much, much more optimistic than I am.

Has anyone noticed Mikhayev has only 1pt in 8 games?

I feel like everyone's really focussed in on Vesey and, sure Mikhayev is more versatile, but wow, that is a bad start.

He's fallen into the Grabner/Kapanen archetype of speedy players who get lots of chances but don't finish. His last season numbers suggest he can put up points so hopefully he starts getting some breaks.

Hess also coming back from an extremely serious injury to his hand.  Doesn't affect his legs.  A larger sample size is warranted
A bad start is a bad start. How can you have a large sample at the "start"?

If he was ineffective i would consider that a bad start.  A couple goals would be nice, but he has been an excellent penalty killer and has been using his speed very well.

It will have been nearly 3 weeks since Robertson got hurt after our next game, hopefully the 4 week timelime was accurate.

I think Thornton's presence has been missed more than people think too. That Thornton-Matthews-Marner line had a 73.49 CF% through 5 games. Matthews and Marner together are at 42.34 CF% since Thornton went out of the line-up.

Admittedly the Thornton trio got to feast on the sens for a couple of games but they also had possession numbers of 73.91% against the Habs (Tatar-Danault-Gallagher) and 70.59% against the Jets (Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler). And before his injury in the Edmonton game they were 6-2 in shot attempts while going up against the McDavid line. No other line was able to limit McDavid in shot attempts in the next 3 games we played against Edmonton like that.

Thornton will go right back to his spot on the #1 line and Hyman can go back to the third line. He hasn't been good this year and the numbers show it. He has 1 even strength assist this year. In fact out of all the regular forwards, he's has the worst ESP/60. He has as many even strength points as Freddie.
I mean it's great for lowering his next contract but the Leafs need him to produce better then that.

Lacking training camp I think hurt the lines offensive chemistry a bit in terms of Thornton knowing where to put the puck for Matthews.  It also didn't help that Matthews had 1 goal on 21 shots in his first 4 games making it look on paper like the line wasn't productive when they were pretty dominant.

Keefe coached Sandin on the Marlies and used him for 30+ min a game. Justin Holl survived being a 71-game scratch under a coach that didn't believe in him.

Looks like Simmonds might get a shot on the Tavares lines. Also a Petan sighting.

Prefer to see Hyman off the first line myself. Despite the lack of scoring, I've liked the JT line more with Mikheyev, then Vesey. No harm trying things though.
