I?m still pretty miffed that the Leafs reward for having their best season EVER is to face the two time Stanley Cup champions in the first round. And really all the Leafs need to satisfy the majority of their fan base is to win 1 f&#kin? playoff round. Like WTF?

1 round won't satisfy me.  It's time to do the thing.

Buckle down. It could be a rough ride . :)

Raanta is back and Freddie might be ready to go come playoff time. Add in the Canes went 3-0 against the B's outscoring them 16-1. Of course they haven't beat the Leafs yet this season either.

Even still, going though the Metro seems like the easier of the two paths available to them. Obviously, they're not going to throw the game or anything, but it does feel like the wrong move tactically.

I guess you could say the same thing for Tampa though.  Why go through Toronto and Florida (no offense Washington) when you could go through Carolina and Pittsburgh/NewYork

I'll be reasonably happy if they accomplish that much.

x2 for sure. Winning a round isn't the same across the board. People say oh you've never won a round but look at the matchup. There's literally no reward for getting 113 points with this divisional setup. Winning this one is like winning a conference final and if it's Tampa, like winning a Cup. It would be that difficult. Tampa on full tilt beat us 8-1. I'd really like Boston 1st round. Even though the road will eventually go through Florida/Tampa they can at least get the first round monkey off their back. I think we'd have a good shot against Boston.

I know it's kinda popular to crap on the current playoff format, and maybe it's not the best one possible, but even in a 1-8 playoff format the Leafs would be facing one of three 50-win teams in the 1st round depending on how things unfold tonight: Tampa (2-time reigning Cup champs), New York (best goalie in the league), or Boston (Boston).

This series isn?t favouring the leafs. Unless our Allstars seriously out perform there?s, we?re sunk. Our goaltending is too fragile.

I don't usually agree with you, but I do agree that our goaltending is the weakest link.  Campbell may not have to match Vasilevskiy ?  we have enough offense to make up a slight deficit in goaltending ? but he'll have to be pretty close.

One cause for cautious optimism is that the Lightning haven't been playing well recently.

I think you have to rate the two-time defending champs as favorites, but they aren't prohibitive favorites.

But hey I defer to the bookies.  ::) ::) ::) :P

EDIT: Just reading the MHLS quick-take analysis of the series and it's pretty much on the mark I think.  More or less what I said above ... not that that's brilliant analysis or anything.
