Can we gaslight Kase into thinking he has a concussion and then have him sign an 8-year extension while in protocol?
The lines are interesting. Not really how I would draw them up but we should do more of this through the year. Try different combos out so that we don't end up with teams shutting down Matthews/Marner and then having no depth scoring from the bottom 6.

I don't think Nylander deserves 3rd line minutes by merit, but he's the best one after Matthews to carry a line and over match depth opposition (yeah, I have him over Tavares) and I think he plays better when he's the go-to-guy on the line. It's a safe bet he'll be first choice for the reverse-Connor Brown treatment when we're chasing a goal though. Marner needs a shooter on his line to activate his dangerousness, so it's a given he'll be attached to one of the top 2 Cs.
Matthews + plug and play wingers
Tavares + sheltered support for his style
Nylander + a speedy passer and a defensive conscience
4th line: 8 min of 5v5 and try to not let anything happen

I'm actually curious to see how these lines would work out. I think Willy will do just fine as he should get the easier matchups and if he doesn't, one of JT or Matthews will. Which line do you check if you're the opposing team? Hey half a season to go so why not. Maybe Keefe is doing this to get Willy, Kerfoot and JT going a little bit. Willy has 3 pts in last 6 and JT 2pts. Both were on heaters before the recent road trip. Kerfoot has 6 in last 6 but 3 came when he played with Matthews.

I would say Nylander has more chemistry with Kerfoot than Tavares so I like this.

Officially official now. Like virtually everyone else on this roster obviously, I'm not really convinced that he's got a legit NHL future at this stage of his career but man what a turnaround from where it was at a year ago. Good for him.
