Alexander Kerfoot: 26 points in 59 games. $3.5m.

Kasperi Kapanen: 20 points in 43 games. $3.2m.

🤷

Leafs: 80 points in 59 games, 2nd in their division

Pens: 63 points in 57 games, 5th place in the wildcard race.

Leafs can afford Kerfoot?s production. Pens can?t afford Kapanen?s.

Lol, that's Anthony Stewart for you.

It was a terrible take when he first posted it.

He took the ?no brainer? part of the initial tweet too literally.
At that point in time I thought Kappy could replace Hyman. Not anywhere near Willy. Kappy at half that cost would be a great pick up.

Leafs really can't afford Kerfoot's production either. Of they can move him at the deadline, I wouldn't be upset.
Hey maybe they trade Kerf for Kappy lol.

I'll be the first to admit that I always liked Johnsson better. I found Kapanen to lack hockey sense. Fast as heck, but no vision.

I preferred Kappy because of that speed and PKing ability. He was also a better hitter. Neither could cut it too 6 though.

Kerfoot is way more versatile than Kapanen. Kapanen doesn't have it between  the ears in comparison.

Exactly. That?s why the Leafs can afford the production. They?re not expecting Kerfoot to be a significant part of the offence, but to provide support in other areas. Pittsburgh needs Kapanen to produce.

Boston's season obviously wasn't going well enough so the hockey gods gave their fans something to cheer about.  Linus Ullmark scored a goal.

They're gonna win the cup, aren't they?

That was always the frustration with him - lots of skill, inconsistent ability to use it and even less consistent finishing ability.

Maybe, but in the back of my mind I think of how the overwhelming favorite so often gets upset early, and also how many miles there are on some of the core players on the team. Maybe by the time the playoff starts, they'll slow down a bit. I hope not, being a fan, but I could see it happening.

Leafs need a good D, not a depth d, if they've got any shot at 2 rounds, imo. And something tells me that they've got this year and next before the window closes, at least in terms of keeping Nylander. The way he's playing there's no chance he signs for less than 10M, and I don't see Matthews or Marner taking pay cuts.

So they've got to go big.
