CarltonTheBear said:I wasn't totally opposed to a face puncher before, think I brought up Lucic once or twice, but that was when I thought Kampf wasn't returning and he could be paired with a C that had a little better transition skills like a Lafferty or Holmberg. Now I'm not really sure I'd be as on board.
bustaheims said:Reaves isn't the same old school face puncher, though. He's also actually a reasonable 4th line grinder. Also, his 7 fights last year were the most he'd had in a long while. As a 12th/13th forward type, he feels like a good potential fit.
Looks pretty good to me. Another $5-7M defenseman and Robertson in the mix and I think we're set up pretty well. Maybe Wheeler at C?CarltonTheBear said:Current cap/roster situation (obviously lines are mostly just for show atm) as free agency is just over 24 hours away:
Jarnkrok-Matthews-Marner
Knies-Tavares-Nylander
_____-_____-Lafferty
Holmberg-Kampf-McMann
Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Liljegren
Giordano-Timmins
Murray
Woll
LTIR: Muzzin
That roster, per CF, has a total cap hit of $71,897,283 leaving the Leafs with $11,602,717 in cap space.
Plugging Samsonov in at $3.5mil and going with 3 goalies brings the cap space down to $8.1mil. Waiving Murray and assigning him to the Marlies when possible bumps that up to $9.25mil. Trading him to a team that takes his full cap hit gives the Leafs just a shade under $12.8mil in cap space to play with.
