I wonder if the plan is to surround Carlyle with assistants that could be head coaches elsewhere and try and have a coaching dream team of sorts...I know I'm reaching, but maybe they give blank checks to a few big name assistants.
I would be very surprised if one of the new assistants wouldn't be a clear choice to take over in the event of a midseason firing.
