Chiarelli (finally) fired

I'm so disappointed.  I wanted Chiarelli to run the trade deadline.  Why couldn't those losers win a few more games to keep him safe through the deadline?

This came out during the Koskinen signing, but the Oilers are making decisions by committee. Chiarelli was just the face (and fall) guy. I trust their deadline decision making will be just as inept as before.

I hope people here start to see now that judging a team's success by its one playoff run is a fool's errand. Edmonton and Ottawa have both recently gone deeper into the playoffs than this iteration of the Leafs and they are in the midst of tire fires largely of their own(ers') making. As seen from the front office's response to the Leafs' run during the shortened 12/13 season, windfall success is the worst teacher possible.

Obviously Dreger is getting this information straight from the Oilers somehow. So I love how trying to go "no, no. Don't be silly. We didn't let the GM we just fired sign this incredibly dumb deal by himself. We ALL wanted it!" as if that makes them look better.

edit: "early December" also indicates that they wanted to sign him to that deal 13 games into his NHL career

I liked how in his 10 worst moves section he actually grouped a number of things together so there ended up being 19 different transactions mentioned.

I think the jury is out, on if Mark can really do this at the NHL level... His Leafs drafts weren't that great.

I mean comparing Chiarelli to JFJ isn't exactly great company for him.
