Damn, first Aucoin, now Connolly.  If we had put Komisarek on waivers they Islanders would have taken him too. They're helping us out!

Nothing like seeing the worst team picking up the droppings of the 2nd worst team. ;)

Were not that bad, you just listen to the press too much. there wrong  by the way.

I kid nutman. I kid. Like I've said all along, the Leafs will only go as far as their goaltending allows. If the kids can play, we'll be fine.

Lombardi and Connolly only played the 1 season for the Leafs, how sad are Burke's moves that we're trumpeting them leaving in trades and waivers so shortly after he acquired them?

No offense nutman, but you say this every year.  I'm sure if I go back 1 year ago they'll be posts of you predicting the Leafs in the playoffs.  Let's see the team PROVE it before we go saying they're not that bad.

I was on track last year until we lost our goalie, and this year I have based our season on the goalies as well. Any team that loses there goalie will fall some what, we had a very young team and it hurt much more. I am hoping one of the two we have in net runs with it.

I kno th eIsles claimed Aucoin but there is also a rumor they claimed Connolly? Or are we just alking about Aucoin?

Connolly.  Rumor this morning that the Isles are claiming him.

Now hearing the Fan590 DIDN'T say this but someone mis-heard and reported it on a message board.  LOL only in Toronto.  Oh well guess we find out at noon.  It's a good dream...

I bet he clears and we trade him in a deal where we retain salary.... That's my guess.

Makes sense, unless a team is desperate to make the cap floor, why take Connolly's cap hit?

Isles have already claimed off waivers in the last few of days:
Joe Finley
Thomas Hickey
Keith Aucoin

That has to be flirting with some sort of waiver pickup record already. What a crazy team.

Well, if they put Aucoin on waivers again, I think we have first dibs, unless that rule has changed also. I think we could also send him to the Marlies then too. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong though.

That would depend on whether or not anyone else put a claim in on him last time. If it was just the Islanders, then the Leafs can pick him up and send him straight to the Marlies without having to put him on waivers again. If other teams put in claims, they get first dibs.

Are salaries being pro-rated for this season?  If so, paying Connolly less then $3M with no obligation beyond this one isn't the worst thing in the world for a team that has been spurned by free agents and who could use his talent.

As for the Islanders claiming Connolly - I don't buy it. He costs more than the league minimum. That's too much money for Wang.

Considering the official salary floor is $44M, it's a total non-issue. Every team in the league is already well above it.

I figured I didn't have the whole story. Thanks.

Lombardi wasn't even suppose to play for the Leafs because of his injury. He was a throw in.

Yeah now that I have the whole story, wasn't actually reported on the Fan, just someone "thought they heard the Fan say he was claimed".  Can we get any more dubious than that?

Yup, also worth considering the fact that he did play netted us a draft pick I believe.
